The air does suck, up to a point. That's part of why WPO is so different.

Another question: The americans don't have any air power in the philippines? It seems like even those crappy bombers could prove useful against the japanese lurking in the jungle... After all, whether a 250 kg or 30kg bomb falls on your head, you're still dead!
In the 1926 scenarios there is a squadron of DH-4s in the PI. The 1922 scenario, oddly enough, starts about a week before the same squadron shipped out of California to be sent to the PI. Also, and this is fairly new, be forewarned. We researched deployments of troops in the PI. And well, they make what is in WitP a Godsend.

RE: WPO Beta AAR: Sprior(IJ) vs Belphegor(Allies) Campaign 1.
my...my god those bombers are lame... I'd expected the air in this game to suck but...oh my god! I'm really enjoying your AAR by the way. I have a small question, how am I doing with the french fleet? Have you replaced me yet? I should be in command of the CA Desaix, or that other big ship (there are only a few in the french fleet). Name is Lamothe, G.
Another question: The americans don't have any air power in the philippines? It seems like even those crappy bombers could prove useful against the japanese lurking in the jungle... After all, whether a 250 kg or 30kg bomb falls on your head, you're still dead!
I'll check your progress with the Fleet, I Don't think I replaced you, and the French gave a very good account of themselves early in the game opposing the landings in PI.
I have some aircraft at Guam, but none in the PI. But boy, if he comes within 30 miles of Guam watch out! [:D]
He has landed at Lamon Bay, it seems to cut off my southern defences. Naughty.
I have brought the fleet to Pearl, it is coaling before steaming to Midway.

Believe it or not this was an accident. I wasn't trying to find anything. I am as surprised as you are.
I think I came off worse most of my shots were non-penetrating.
We'll see who makes it back to port.
Intercepted at 23000 yards, final fight near 10000 yards. This interception was north of Luzon

But I was certainly pleased to see another BB in my sights. That's 2 BBs, and I think 2 CAs hit by submarine launched torpedos in under a month.

And here is my damage compared to his... sorry for the fuzziness, it looked great until I saved it. The Rabaul fight was definitely a Japanese victory. I'll have to withdraw to repair.

RE: WPO Beta AAR: Sprior(IJ) vs Belphegor(Allies) Campaign 1.
I have very few standing fleets left, and really busy dockyards. The American Battlefleet is coming out of refit as I mentioned earlier, but I lack troops to push forward, so any journey now to relieve the PI will be a self-contained convoy and pretty much a one-way journey for now simply because I don't want to spend the time to send them there and then have them return to Pearl.
Afraid I am going to have to react to the IJN strategy at this point to determine where I'll commit the BF and how much of it.
Now if I could only find him....

Well, I found you! The USN turns up at Wake and sinks 3 merchies... not a very good return on such an investment in time and effort.

RE: WPO Beta AAR: Sprior(IJ) vs Belphegor(Allies) Campaign 1.
A portion of the US Battle Fleet practices their long range gunnery skills at Wake. Remainder of the fleet still refitting. These guys need more shooting practice. I gotta admit, I'm looking forward to meeting the IJN BBs at some point. No further aggressive action planned. Retiring to Pearl.

Phase 2? I haven't even recovered from Phase 1 yet. But on the plus side I am still duking it out in PI.

RE: WPO Beta AAR: Sprior(IJ) vs Belphegor(Allies) Campaign 1.
A little note to potential WPO buyers, in the final game, PI conquest should be somewhat faster. This game is from an older build, where we changed the TOE of the PI units, but left the actual units in. As it is now, after I could get ahold of some actualy OOBs for the PI, the units on Luzon include 1 Divisions, 1 US Rgt, 3 PS Regiments, and 1 US battalion. (in lieu of engineer and base forces). On Mindanao there is 1 Division, purelyu for balancing purposes.
