Test case on fixing Oil

(This is just a test and not part of ongoing AAR)

I had 8 units repairing this oil site from turn 2. The Oil site was 98% damaged turn 2. Damage went down to 15 this turn(turn 9) and went from 1,000 oil last turn to 4,000 this turn. Repair with the 8 units has been ~10 points per turn.

You can run low toward the end of 1942, and then again in 44-45. Capturing oil should help as you have excess fuel factory capacity. Will this impact all games? No. But depending on how the game goes and how much fuel the Axis consumes with his movement, it should make a difference.

This is what was explained to me weeks ago, which I take as it has alittle effect on Oil production.... now I am confused.

"I personally file the production system into a box marked 'it does stuff' and play the rest of the game. As the Soviets its worth repairing some of the big resource sites you recapture (Nikolaev is one) so there are a few instances but in the main the system is constrained by the various production caps and usually it will produce enough of the inputs to meet those caps.

the game design from WiTE1 to WiTW has always avoided creating meaningful shortages in part as it then becomes harder to code, so more need to introduce player agency and the whole thing tips towards being a bit of an industrial management sim."

How many repair points did those 8 cons units have in total?

The base repair for Oil is 1% per turn according to the manual for Priority factory repair & up to a max of 25% total can be repair in the turn. So, from turn 9 to turn 10 the damage went from 15 to 13 with 8 construction units.

Turn 12 Beginning of Turn

"Before Thoughts on 3,000,000+ man Soviet Army"

I made a reply in another up & coming match AAR https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5083388 about the 3,000,000 Soviet Army. (Check out RedJohn's AAR and give both players lots of support :) Anyway, RedJohn made a very good rebuttal and I just wanted to entertain my side side in an actual game. Of course it is going to be my game since this turn Jubjub has a 3,000,000 Soviet Army under his control. Of course all players and all games are different with varying degree of success & failure. But lets see what the Soviets are capable of with 3,000,000 men in this game. I only briefly looked at the turn before resaving it and will start with play by play tomorrow on the ground phase after a good recon & study of the map.

Below is the snippet from that AAR.

But unironically - I believe 3 million men on the map and it becomes extremely difficult for the Germans to push, if they're placed well.

The above is a misconception that has grown in scope since BETA. A German that knows what he/she is doing will slice and dice you in 41 even with 3 million men or 3.5 million men.

Turn 12 Beginning of Turn

OH! For those curious about 10th PZ I did fill up but not all the way. I will direct you to the orange arrow why I couldn't say anything last turn about 10th PZ. I believe the Orange arrow speaks for itself since it was in front of Moscow and now?? ;-) It is in place for operations this turn. Hmmmmm, wonder what happened to the other 6 PZ Divisions I have in reserve?... (Not to mention I have 2 more as reinforcements this turn too)

Ok, now I am off to bed. Good Night.

T12 Beginning of Turn

Just want to point out in the AAR, for future readers, that currently there are bugs in the Air War and will list the links here for all that want to read them if they have not already.

Here is the link to one on GS https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5082474

Here is the link to the issues for AS here https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5082494

Here is the link to GA issues https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5075705

Here is the link to Flak issues https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5082054

Also German Air bases in the Soviet Union gain Soviet stats for the airbase not German. This further exacerbates German problems in the Air war.

As you can see there are some issues that will be addressed in future patches in the Air War but I am going to go ahead and trudge forward knowing this to have a bearing in the eventual outcome of the Air War :(

If I missed any of the issues please be kind to let me know to link them to the post above. The Air war was impacted this last turn because of the above issues.

Turn 12

Weather!!!

Whew! I do have to say this is the first game up to turn 12 that have basically no rain. Makes a difference that is for sure. I have been real "lucky"

I find it interesting that is is raining in the Italian, Austria, and Swiss Alps.

Turn 12

Events!!!

I have not had any events, yet, where I lost VP's because lack of forces. I know now what happened to cause those issues in my first few games when WITE2 was rolled out 5 months ago. The issue was I had sent "all" SU's up to OKH instead of just "on map" unit SU's. This game and my game with Guctony I made sure I did not do that. So please be aware your settings when mass moving SU's in your game.

Air Losses

Soviet continue their relentless bombing. I don't have a great deal of AA on the map but in a few places that did take a toll. But for the most part over 95% of the bombing is not opposed at all.

Turn 12 Beginning of Turn (Real Turn Update)

New Fighters

Remember when a new plane begins production there is a one month lag time on when you can use that plane to upgrade airgroups. It has been a month & now the BF109-4F is ready for units. Although even when I had all my Fighters on manual upgrade on the Map some of those groups on the map auto updated to the BF109-4, interesting.
