Curious how BFTB did compared to two reasonably priced games released recently Decisive Campaigns and Battlefield Academy....

BFTB has an excellent Tutorial and a very good Demo.. but I just couldn't get over the sticker...

for the same price, I got both Decisive and BA... and have enjoyed both of them a lot!

Next priority on my list is Vicky II, which is also competitive at 39 bucks..

Sigh, BFTB still gets some price rants. :(

Anyway... looking forward to WITE.  Curious about RUS as well.

Really? Because I read one post about BftB price and that was by cmurphy625 and it wasn't even a rant.

You don't happen to work for the press do you? And if not, perhaps it's a career you could consider, being as you apparently have a knack for blowing things out of proportion???

Now, who is getting worked up again over the price ? [;)]

I was unhappy about the price setting of BFTB - not because I considered it too much for me personally but because I figured that the higher price would dissuade a lot of gamers from buying this game, resulting in a lower net revenue for the developer despite a higher per unit gain.

I still think that Matrix should consider including this game in their upcoming yearly sale as it seems there's still a considerable demand for this game on a lower pricepoint. Wait another year and interest might wane.

I guess you're right. 'Rant' may be too extreme.

Prices correlate with complexity and the better games are usually more expensive.

Prices equate to drool!

The only thing that worries me about GG: War in the East is that they've left off the unit identifiers off the counter art. It looks like we just see divisions color-coded to show their corps affiliation.

In this way, the game will feel very much like a Panzer Campaigns title - commanding units that other than a color code, are unidentifiable at a glance of the map. A shame. I would have hoped by now that we had the pixels to fit more onto a counter's art. Ron Dockal can do it (just a shame he can't do UI's). [&:]

This is just based on looking at the screen shots - maybe I'm looking wrong?

Hmm, actually I didn't see any artwork yet. Hope there will be at least some, as it contributes to imagination. SSG got it right with historical division signs on unit counters.

I created an example in Photoshop some months ago, about how to add artwork to combat resolution screen, but Joel didn't want it.

I agree Sterckx a nice $56 price tag would sell me on the game (BftB) digital express mind you. I don't recall if BftB came with a printed manual or not?

BftB did not even come with a printed manual. Not even black and white. The only reason why BftB got sticker shocked was because preivous panther games were reasonably priced. The $80/$90 price came at no warning. WitP:AE people weren't sticker shocked because 1) It had full color printed manual and 2) Gary Grisby games have been known cost more than average. With this in mind, we all expect War in the East to cost much more than average.

No, it didn't. The reason is pretty simple - the manual is close to 400 pages and the absolute biggest manual that fits in the DVD box Matrix uses is 200 pages. Forge of Freedom had that and it nearly bursts the box.

The funny thing is that it's probably the second most complex game in the whole Matrix lineup (after WitP), yet I can explain the game in like 5 minutes to just about everyone. That's because the interface is so intuitive and if you place yourself in the mind of a WW2 corps commander everything you can think off you can do in the game.

I will order it when on sale. The regular retail price is too much for my interest level. I am sure others will purchase it if the sale price is considered reasonable as well. Price does matter to some folks, me included.

I'm betting between $70-$80 digital version and +$20 for physical. Anyone know if it's going to have a printed manual?
