as move AI / US brigades are thrown into battle, more get morale errors and don't do full attacks, while it all counts and mounts up, it's a half hearted attempt at a assault which ends up little more than a brigade attack, cost is getting higher for both, but time isn't on there side, but is on mine

with the game time and battle ended, it's a great win for me, the AI fought well, but as i knew the battlefield and units involved so well now, my 250 odd battle comes to an end

Image

with mistakes made on both sides the ground is very hard to fight on, the rain doesn't help either side, but does make the US / AI take longer to bring it's reinforcements to bear, plus a 3 pronged attack makes it weaker in the middle, which is where i based all my units, leaving both flanks weaker, but easily reinforced if attacked, or the option of pulling them back while i delay, which is what i did in the end.

a enjoyable battle, can go both ways, and be won be either side with more than a few different plans of attack, of which this is just one.

hope you enjoyed it, and lets see some from you all now...

last comment on this battle, morale and HQ control is key to winning

as you can plainly see the AI does a better job of keeping it's morale higher than i did, so maybe wasn't aggressive enough, but alter that and you get a higher butchers bill, played on default settings btw so to keep it in a historical time period battle frame, even though it's a what if type battle fought.

the after action reports is where you learn also how to win, or not lose by so much, study these and they will help you master the game, while i make it look easy, as first i lost almost every battle i fought, and now plan all battles on pen and paper for where all known units are, so yes i'm a geek who loves the game.
