U-boats sink 3 merchants and take 8 step losses! I regret building a single u-boat.

Germany gets Heavy Armor 41, soon we will convert 1 and 2 Panzer.
Italy gets Assault 41.

Hungary builds an infantry division.

Sadly the British withdraw from Algiers. And set up some sort of odd defensive line in Morocco.

The "Odd defence line" is due to the fact that all unoccupied hexes will revert to Axis control when Vichy North Africa is conquered. I just wanted to make sure that none of my units were out of supply.

Lessons learnt this game:

1. The weather sucks
2. Stick with Breakthrough for Germany
3. Naval Air tech is pointless for Italy
4. My North African "strategy" needs a major rework
5. The weather sucks

1. Agreed. I have never seen anyone get so unlucky with the weather as you did. The fact that you were able to win despite this is a testament to your skill.
2. Partly Disagree. Breakthrough is fine until 42 or so which was all you needed for this game. But by 43 Heavy Armour has, IMHO, a big advantage over Breakthrough.
3. Agree. But for that matter I think it is pointless for everybody.
4. Agree. I think you would have been better off expending the extra Landing Ships to capture Algiers outright. Then all of North Africa is yours. Of course the RN would have something to say about this.

I'm glad somebody tried out an early strat bombing just to see if it works. It doesn't.

This is a luxury kind of war the UK can ill afford in 41 when they are struggling with the BoA. It might have made some sense in prior versions of the game when the BoA was no big deal. Now it's a very big deal.

Furthermore, the Germans start off with flak everywhere now. (This wasn't always true.) They are under no real pressure to add to this until the enemy bombers hit a certain critical mass and tech level.

Strat bombing is a rich man's kind of war and a long game at that and the UK doesn't have the budget for this kind of affair in the early game. It's also an open question whether this is ever cost effective at any time as compared to buying other units and getting boots on the ground in Europe ASAP. Start bombers are just ridiculously expensive to buy and repair. The USA might be able to get something going with this later on. But even so, is it really worth the effort?

As for the Soviets, I've made my views on this plain already and these mirror matches richly confirm my case.

In the next patch (?), Strategic Bombers with Detection and Electronics advancement will now add their % to sub hunter bonus convoy lane if in range. The investment will be perhaps good now.
Because if you win BoA, you will then change your Strategic Bombers from Detection and Electronics advancement to Strategic Bombing advancement.

Quite historical.
Chancellor Gorkon to Captain James T. Kirk:
You don't trust me, do you? I don't blame you. If there is to be a brave new world, our generation is going to have the hardest time living in it.

I agree with all your points Flavius. But I think you meant to post this in the AAR where Sveint is the Allies.

My bad, there's like 3 of these threads going on and I misposted in this one.
