Heh new to the forum i registered just so i could comment Ok so you're starting to take BB loses now.

Pull back. I looked at the reinforcement schedule and you'll get 40+ divisions and its a 4 year war. You have blooded his nose and wiped out his complete bb/bc force or put them out of action for a long time right?

It seems like he is hell bent on Pearl. He has lost 9000+!!! men to try to land more troops. He is going to throw everything he has at you and you will eventually fall. The points he will get from just killing pearls troops will be a big blow to overcome.

How many dd's do you have left? Can you give us some damage screen shots? Whats your fleet makeup at pearl? You have what 100+ dd's? break them up into fast transport taskforces with a few AO's stationed in positions from PH to Mare and start moving troops out. use dd's at flank speed and let them refuel off the ao's.
That way they can refuel in mid jump.

even if you dont leave pearl get those BB's out of pearl. You have plenty of dd's if you want to keep a harassing force around. Think of it this way....

You pull out of pearl with 600-800 AP take it back to pearl and bide your time. If your game is like all the other games once pearl falls then the other nations are involved. That will open up other avenues i bet he is not expecting. Use the british fleet to tear up pescadores. He seems to have thrown everything to pearl and i bet you 100 dollars everything to the west is free for the harassing.

Just my two cents. But definately give us some screenies!

@ chestypuller

Man you hit the nail on the head, thats exactly what im planning to do. Just wanted someone to say Im right. Just looking for the right time to do it. So far I have around 30 AP and 70 AK at pearl. Thats all the transport ships I can get. They waiting in Pearl. I think I have around 35 DD's, 10 BB's and 3 CA's. All pretty damaged. At present I have one BB with some flooding at 57% so I cant evacuate yet. Once I pull my ground forces out, Pearl will fall pretty soon. Not really sure whens the best time to do it. When I start picking troops with tranport ships I need to defend them, they will load pretty slow. Japs will come and harrass me. I probably lose some ships. And damaged ones may be lost in Pearl when it falls. I can use my surface fleet, BB's CA's , DD and even MSW to fast tranport. Thats the main reason Im keeping BB's at Pearl, so that they can fast tranport in the future, they capacity is good is good too. Also the chances of a fast transport getting away is pretty high. As you said the objective has been done. Ive already knocked out alot of his ships. So far my fleet is sitting at Pearl avoiding any combat. My only concern now is that he will start bombarding Pearl and get some of my ships. But as far as I know about WPO, bombardment dont work that well, so I think my ships will be pretty safe. Supplies and fuel is still well in Pearl.

Options 1. Pull out now, or ASAP when damaged ships have no flooding.

or

Options 2.And let him fight for it hard. Pull out when the land combat odds start to go against me.

I will post some screenshots, everyone likes screenshots [:D]

Thanks for your advice. [:)]

@ BossGnome

I may be able to keep Pearl, but at a great lost to my fleet. I have a feeling Billweatly has another 6 or 7 divisions on Lahaina. There are now 9 divisions on Pearl. All he needs to do is bring them to pearl and the odds will go against me. Only way to stop him is to use my fleet. But looking at what so far has happened. Any future battles aint going to go so well for the US. That last battle I fought didnt go so well.

Thanks for the suggestion

Well if you stay and fight you run the risk of losing more troops to disablements. Sure it will be fun to shoot up his landing troops but get them loaded up now and save disablements. He's kicking your butt on troop lose points almost 2-1. Don't give him any other means to score hard points (NOT base points) get your guys out and sure he'll get a big vp boost from pearl but they won't stick when you take pearl back.

I mean i guess most people will tell you to pull out. And i'm sure the citizens of hawaii would say stay as well but this game is long man. Get out you make him think he wins and then in a year you are back and you whoop his ass. Also letting him take pearl he'll get cocky. He'll think he has the game won and we both know that is not the case.

Also in my experience when a player thinks the game is lost he will quit. :) thats just a side point lol. I don't know this cat well enough to say if he would or not. But giving him a little bit of hope might keep him interested in the game.

Once you get out station 5-10 Ao's and as many AE's as you have halfway between pearl & west coast then use them as a midpoint refueling station. You can set them to low aggression and have them be guarded by some DD's & CA's then launch hit and run attacks with dd's & Bb's then you can hopefully get in and out quick and keep him guessing. Which will cause him to keep the bulk of his fleet there which will make him vulnerable down around truk. Which is good points for an allied player :).

In witp you can use AE off port starting from 1945. Guess the same is true for WPO as well...

Post by BossGnome »

ok, if he pulls out now he saves his troops now... but wouldnt it be even more of a massacre when he will come back?? The japs have had this much trouble taking pearl and they attacked early in the war, before america had a chance to fortify a great deal... now our american friend would wait a year, and then... what? come back upon a whooping NOT ONLY PEARL, but the whole hawaiian atoll filled up with size 9 fortifications? I believe i am too late he has already pulled out, just pointing out the flaws of such a pulling out plan. Taking pearl back will be a total bitch.

However, what house rules are you playing by? If pearl falls, all the other nations usually declare war on japan yes? Then this would mean a nice british, french, dutch and potentially australian (?) fleet coming to rape him from his backside where he has pretty much nothing...[:)]

Yea but i just checked out the JAP OOB. It doesn't look like they have any CD's that are more then 14cm thats what 6 in maybe? The guns that were at pearl were 12-16 inchers right?

So I doubt he'll see the japs with enough to kill 9000+ on one invasion. Though the replacements will be an issue. Until Tanker puts in that patch to bring us squad replacements upto 35 per month you won't hardly have anything. You bleed those forces on PH good Billy he wont be able to replace those loses even with 30 squads a month it will take him almost a year just to rebuild 1 division lol. Besides letting PH die you can send in some indian troops from HK to Manilla and hopefully reinforce.

But if he has bataan be careful if he put some cd guns in there you willl be in for a wallop trying to pass. But you could always reland in lingyan (sp) and try to cut him off.

Have you moved troops from indian to hong kong?

Whats the situation in the west? give us some map screen shots!

Are you shipping those troops from PH to west coast or directly to PI?

General Billy,

I'd pull out the damaged ships, but not the troops. Your troops are giving a lot better than they are getting and should continue to do so so long as their supplies hold out. You can afford to lose the whole garrison, while I don't think that he can ever repair all of the units that he's committed already. Looks like you've reduced his effective's onshore by ~1/3 already, with his arty loses are even higher. If you can keep your local light naval forces around to make any further landings expensive, I think you can continue to bleed him as he tries to reinforce/resupply.

During my limited time playing the game, my big ground troop losses have been either from opposed landings, or from transports being sunk while units are still embarked. Leaving now will expose your garrison aboard ship now, and make it certain that you will pay a heavy price when you come back to retake the Hawaiian islands.

Have you tried any commerce raiding, seems like with all of his naval losses and his long supply lines, a few cruisers raiding his rear could cost him dearly. What is your PI squadron doing presently?

Anyhow, I'm enjoying the AAR - best of luck whichever way your decide to go.

US pulls out

Post by general billy »

@ BossGnome

Pearl will be in japs hands and I know it will be a tough fight to get back but I believe with good co-ordination and experience and looking at the mistakes BWheatly done its very possible to retake easy. My units will be fully prepared for the invasion in the future, I will probably go for Lahaina first or go for another base close by and build it to level 3 port and then start bombarding then I will go in. Anyway, the more he garrisions Pearl and Lahaina, the more his troops cant be elsewhere. [:D]

@ Chestypuller

Most British units have or started to move to singapore. Singapore will be my springboard to reinforce Manila. I will have nearly 2000 Assult points in singapore in 20 days time i think. The combine fleet of the Dutch, French, British, Chinese and US is waiting for orders to go in. The mighty british fleet is around about 60 days away. Will post screenshots when they all ready to go in.

Regard Hong Kong. Extra chinese units have been sent to Hong Kong from china. Every port in china is ready for a jap invasion force. But I dont see that happening until the fall of Manila.

@[MacDandee

Thanks, I tried my best to intercept his ships using raiding taskforces, at first I was doing well but when I started to lose ships, I decided its not worth it. I started with 140 DD's and all I have left is 40. I need them to screen future missions i.e. this pull out from pearl and for the future. I did make his landings expansive. My concern was that he now had 10 divisions on pearl. So the longer I hang out on pearl, maybe he break me in one attack. My whole fleet would be forced to be scuttled. He didnt attack for a few days so I wouldnt know what the combat odds would be with the new added divisions he brought in.
My units are now on ships and they are very vanarable now. There is a chance I can lose everything.

Regarding my PI squadron, well they have so far failed in finding any targets and have recently regrouped at singapore with future allies.

US pulls out of Pearl

The operation to pull out has taken place, two taskforces made up of AK, AP and dozens of escorts have succesfully picked up 98 % of the total ground units and are starting to head due north heading back to the west coast. It will be a long and slow journey back since the taskforce contains a number of damaged ships. So far there has been no Japanese surface contacts that have spotted the fleet however US commanders predict that the Japanese will send it fast surface warships to try to intercept them.

Japs have Pearl now.

Post by general billy »

Japs have Pearl now

Japanese make a mistake in bringing more troops into Pearl, as if there isnt enough already and gets hits hard with Pearls static coastal defenses. Later that day Japs seize total control of the only remaining US Fort.
