I'm not sure if this thread is still active, but I try one question:

If I have "known locations" of a specific resource in the resource list: Is there a way to find out where these locations are?

Thanks.
Lists like the new mining locations will only tell you of stuff you can mine.

I think if you use the resource filter in the bottom right, the game highlights the systems where that specific resource exists.

To see the known source for a specific resource, you simply click on that resource in the "Resources" tab in the Resources section of the control center. Once you click on the resource, a pulsating circle (from yellow to red and vice-versa) will appear on the map at each location where it's available.

In the example below, you see the two known sources for Biffurian Silk.

Isn't there a way to display fleet names on the map screen? I could have sworn DW2 had it, or maybe that was DW classic?

Nothing comes to mind.

Maybe if you are in the military of fleet lists, that stuff get's added to the world?
But it could also have been a DW1 thing.

What's the logical idea behind the pool of starting resources you get?

For example, you get a bunch of Caslon. But you do not have any access to the resource, nor do you have any contact with any another colony or empire that could have traded it to you. So whats the explanation behind this, how did this stockpile end up on your starting planet?

Experimental science on homeworld created small but very expensive reserve, just enough to escape to the next world.

If you start on TL and expansion 0, it literally tells you where those resources come from.
No handwaves or guesses needed.

Is there any way to use fighter in an ion storm system? Is there some tech that I haven't researched or discovered yet? I've watched scores of my fighters/bombers leave their carriers, only to get destroyed.

Armors Reactive rating is the flat damage reduction. If it is large enough to take the nebulas hit, the fighters should be usable.

In my thriving empire, I find myself suddenly low on Caslon. While I have a large fleet, I'm deliberately not moving my military ships around needlessly. I assume private ships are eating all my fuel (and I've watched some mining stations with a line of freighters, gassing up). I have mining stations around every source in my empire and I'm on the High Powered Extrators and there doesn't seem to be any upgrade past that.

What is the solution? Manually scrap some private ships? Or maybe I simply have too many resources and the freighters are busy moving these around?

Are you actually low, or are you confused because of the displayed production shortage?

To make sure Caslon is properly prioritized, there is a large, artificial, fake consumption.
So even if it says you have a shortage: As long as the actually stored amount goes up everything is going fine.

No, I am short. When I look at my Caslon mining stations: I find most of them have only 100-900 and there are freighters loading up. If I take a fleet and hover over the "refuel" button, I've seen the common destination is a base in my neighbor's empire.

I am trying to work around it by using fuel tankers, but this is slow.

Example, here. This is a 97% abundance gas giant at my homeworld with only 1200 Caslon and a 'conga line' of freighters waiting to load up. To me, this means too many cargo ships and too much cargo movement. Short of scrapping mining bases, I don't know how to resolve this.

I think I might need to turn this into a bug report/tech support item.

I have started playing DW2 after about 2 years. Fully updated.
I am having a lot of issues.
Even with the setup, I selected start in the center and it starts me way out on the edge.
I retried it 3 times and always out on the edge.
My automation seems way messed up.
I select do not build a mining base on all the asteroids.
And then I set the construction ships to full auto and as soon as all the places I have selected are built then off it goes and starts building mining bases on all the asteroids I set to not build on. It does this rather than wait around for something else to do. Is that standard behavior now for this game? Or am I missing something?

This I already wrote 3 or 4 times. And it should be easy to fix this.

Another issue I have with automation.
The constructors will not recover salvage if I set the to auto recover salvage.
If I set them to full automation then they will auto recover salvage.
Why is this messed up?

I'm not sure for constructors, but explorers sub automation settings do not work in my experience. Maybe the same is true here.

I expect they'll ask you for a save and bug report - I don't think this is intended.

There is no setting for "do not build mining stations on this asteroid".
So I am really confused what you even did there.

Hi all,

One of the things i really liked to use in my gameplays in DW 1, was the hability of design and build StarBases for different purposes: logistical, logistical with mining, giant monitoring bases or even mega space fortresses in the middle of nothing with GW intercepting just for the fun.

Now, it seems that this capacity of building a "player designed base for fun and immersion" just disappeared... or am i wrong?

Wold it be possible to return this feature to the game? To choose the type of my Starbases, the places where i build it and the components that they would take?

Thanks,
OldSpook.
