Wow, so much expertise

Haven't played this against a human in many years, so please be gentle. PBEM anyone? I'd prefer the Soviets so I can die a glorius defending the Rodina.

If you are a new player, defending as the Soviets is impossible. You will lose in 1941.

I have heard that the possum mod gives the soviet player a small chance. You also need to pick some house rules that do not overwhelmingly favour the german player -- insist on a limit to the number of interdiction attacks per hex, and insist on a limit to what the Germans can do with their cut off units (some house rules seem to indicate that the Germans can advance with cut-off units but the Russians can not). Also limit the amount of damage that the Germans can inflict on Stavka on turn 1 -- with your TB-3s out of action (they can all be bombed out of the game on the first turn before you get a move) then you will be unable to supply cut off units.

Me too, I didn´t play WiR in a year o two. Well, If you wants to...

I´d prefer to play as Russian, too. Is easy to win as German... until winter. But...

About the Russian air supply: really tried someone to air supply with the Lutwaffe flying? Not possible at all. In the first turn, I prefer destroy the Yak-1, near Moscow.

Send me an e-mail, if you want to play pebm, as Russian, as German or both.

You will probably have no end of people wanting to play you as the Germans.

I am happy to play the Russians in another PBEM. 2 of mine appear to have stopped due to no response from the German player, and in the other one I'm just being used as a cat toy. House rules, though, especially a limit on interdictions and airfield attacks per hex.

Yes, I often fly air supply as the Russians. Not usually to front hexes within range of lots of HQs though, unless it is escorted (yes you can escort air supply units). Limit air supply to hexes that can only be CAPed by at most 2 german HQs, and remember that CAP range is only 7 hexes, so sometimes the fringe hexes near Leningrad or Rostov can be air supplied without major losses to your TB-3s.

The TB-3s have a reasonably high durability, they will get shot at, but the ones that don't get shot down will get through. You have lots of them, and you can't really use them for anything else, so you may as well use them for air supply. If it saves you a corps from being surrounded and forced to surrender losing 200 tanks, it's worth losing 50 planes or so.

Ok. I´ll send to you the first German turn. OKH has decided not to air attack near Moscow, because this could alert the Red Army.
May be the first turn will take to me some days: I need some hours to play the first turn and it can´t be saved until the end[>:]
