Point Blank Pisser!

Post by LarryP »

Aliens invaded one of my bases. So I go there with my crew, fighting my butt off with aliens coming out of nowhere constantly. I had to save and reload several times to keep from losing crew members. At the very end of this mission, my vehicle shoots one of those missles on the left side (2 only) that explode like a cluster bomb. He shoots this alien almost point blank! It misses!!! I did it again and it missed again!!! The alien points something at the vehicle and demolishes it. Dead. That's what I call a "Point Blank Pisser!"

This is on the Easy setting too. [:@]

I know what you mean! I just took a break after what I thought would be a basic cleanup the crashed Fighter crew mission. Usually the aliens are spread-out and I do a sweep. This time 7 of the big lumbering mind control things with a claw did a creature wave attack and slaughtered me! I killed 7 of these things and my last man must have been taken down from behind as I didn't see what killed him.

I'm playing the game on normal. I'd love to replace my AFV with troops but its a struggle to keep 4 of them out of the hospital and in action!

I can relate! It seems to me that the difficulty settings are not quite right. I expect on Easy for things to be like a walkthrough with obstructions. That's how I have had most games be like on the Easy setting. There have been many times that Hard were more the case.

Also, sometimes my best shooters barely shoot in the same direction as aimed. I sit there and scoff! I would have said "laugh" but it wasn't funny as I got hammered afterwards.

However, it is an addicting game.

One poster, a while ago, asked if this game was too easy - they were scared it wouldn't be a challenge.

Funny, nobody's brought that foolishness up since.

Good one! Nope, it's not too easy I will vouch for that. It would be nice if it were, then I could bump it up a notch, but I can't go down from Easy.

I've got upgraded troops and they still make horrible shots at times. I haven't used but one grenade and she lobbed it so bad she killed herself. I think that some adjusting needs to be made with a patch.

Larry can i ask if u tried to lob the nade over some thing?
I've found that if there is a clear LOS i generally hit with nades and i've not used a single soldier experience upgrade on throwing.
Opposite i've twice tried to lob over the tank only to find that my soldier can only throw it directly in to the back of it. I soon learned and dont do that any more [8|]
Only throw if clear LOS or if 3 4 hexes behind what is in the way of LOS.

Hope it helps,

Rasmus

The one time I threw a grenade the LOS was clear and the alien was just a little ways away. It makes sense what you said about not throwing over the tank. In the programming it must see the obstacle and not go through (or over) it but around instead.

This is not your imagination. As your troops become wounded, they lose AP and it appears to also affect their ability to shoot, etc. Even healed up with stim packs and a med kit, their AP will be diminished. At least this has been my observation thus far.

Same for me. Also, when they have been exposed to that green cloud, sometimes it affects their aiming from then on for a bit. Not always though, as that cloud does not always permeate them if they are on the outside edges of it.
