RHS 'standard' ship art...

Post by stall84 »

Ok so Ive made the leap from stock to RHS.. and I may have gotten in over my head.. but whatever... it looks like Im going to enjoy it.

1st: The map is incredibly well done... Im using the 7.5 set... and so I have no idea how the panama canal or capetown work.. but whatever..

2nd: The aircraft art is also beautiful.. well done.

**3rd** and most important. The ship art is hideous... Im sorry I know its not easy.. but the art files I downloaded from the main RHS website are simply awful..

So am I missing something? did I get the right files?

How much agony will I have to go through to put new. better ship art in?

Thanks for the help guys..

You may always use any ship art you please. Just name the bitmaps for the ship art to the values shown in the class record.

You need special map art for Levels 6 or 7. You can use special map art for Level 5 - or CHS art - machts nichts to the game. Whatever you like. RHS art will give you more information - which is useful for some - but "distracting" for others.

Ok I opened the editor... through some exploring I found that 'default RHS shipart' has the Yamato at Bitmap 001... and it goes on from there..

Are you telling me Im going to have to check this for all 300 some odd ships?

Yes I found Fremens site and it is amazing.. and they seem to already have corresponding bitmap #'s to RHS.. but is there a way to install all of them or do I have to go ship by ship?

either way I'll grin and bear it

Im going through EVERY single.. ship

Im up to the Ryuho CVL's

Freemans art correspond to RHS.. but all of the images end with an underscore and version number.. like.. (JNSide0027_ver1)

So I have to take each one and rename the file deleting the underscore ver1 part.. so that I can copy and paste it to the Art folder and it will overwrite...

God almighty.. I havnt even started with merchant ships.. much less the allies

Is there a quicker way?

Not exactly. You ONLY change the art you WANT to change. Leave the rest alone.

Search in google for renaming applications. There are many.
