BF Radar Replacements - Blam0 please stay out

Post by ny59giants »

I have two BF from Tasmania in Sydney filling out their TO&E (they have just about everything but the radar and the infantry - which is not as important right now). They each need to get a SCR 270 Radar (5 replacments available per month) before being loaded and moved to either Cooktown or Portland Road. Besides turning off replacements for all other BF's that need radar, what else can be done??

Sydney has over 40k supply with a different Command HQ (the BF HQ is SW Pacific and is at Brisbane). Would it help to move it to its parent HQ??

Thanks for the help.[&o]

Turn off replacements for ALL base forces unless you absolutely know they will never ever get radar. The TOE only shows initial forces, and does not update during the game, so that if the TOE does not show SCR-270, that is not saying that it will not get it later.

It might help to move it to parent HQ - but i doubt it.

Im pretty sure they upgrade in unit number order. To be safe, shut everything off except the ones you want and wait for it.

Thanks guys!!  I was pretty sure that I was covering all my bases, but wanted to double check. I'm playing CHS and Portland Road is a dot base with potential AF6 and only 6 hexes from PM. I feel that I will need the radar to help against those nasty Zeros (I need to get the bounce benefit). [:D]

Just went through all my LCU's and turned on replacemnts only for units that didn't need a radar unit.
I was surprised to find that the USA 70th AA unit which is sitting at Panama has "3" SCR 270 Radar units. [X(][X(][X(]
Guess I will be spending 75 PP to change commands and move that unit out ASAP. [:D]

You should assume that any Allied unit that has "Sound Detector" listed in its TO&E will upgrade that to a Radar element of some sort.

The simple fact is that it is nearly impossible for the player to direct where his LCU replacement and upgrade elements go.  If you feel you need a radar-equipped BF at a base, ship one that already has a radar there.  Don't depend on a unit not already equipped with one to get it.
This game does not have a learning curve. It has a learning cliff.

I'm playing BigB Mod and spent PPs changing command of AA units at Panama - only to find they were STATIC units [:@] - a waste of PPs. I'd recommend you double check [;)]
