V Guard advances Vs X SS Panzer at Tarnapol

In less then five minutes we are to advance on the Germans at Tarnapol. We understand they have a lot of armor as support. We will be going up against the veteran units of the X Panzer Heavy tank group. Most of our men are green troops that we have pulled from the lower reaches of mongolia. Good fighting men but most are nutty as all get out. They show no fear and will charge at the least provocation. They are going to be hard to control.

CO. B has been given the job of taking the most northern objectives. They also have 3 platoons of light and medium tanks as support. Also at least 6 sections of heavy 76.2 IGs are moving up on there rear as support. They have about 500 yds to reach there target across a small stream. Not much cover but visability is only 550 yds. So they should get close before being discovered.

CO C will proceed east on a road that splits the map intwo.They must travel 500 yds along the road then proceed 350 yds north of it to reach there objectives. A small rise hides the target from the road. They too will be able to get close before discovery. They will have 2 platoons of meduim and heavy tanks as support.

CO A has been given the job of securing the southern objectives. They will be 450 yds south of the road with only 400 yards to cover to target. I believe they will have the easiest of all three companys in todays battle. They also will have 4 platoons of light meduim and heavy tanks along as support.

We have beeen given 3 Batteries of 152mm Heavy guns as support from HQ. They have already started there bombardment of suspected enemy concentrations.

CO B in the north has moved forward about 250 yds with around 300 to go to objectives. They have been held up by at least 2 companys of German troops and at least 5 251 armored cars. Have called all morters to concentrate there fire on the area. Moved there support tanks up into firing range they have taken out all of the recon cars so far with no losses. Have lost some men from the heavy firing of the german troops.

CO C in the center have also run into some opposition. Just after they crossed a small bridge Germans showed up and began to fire on our scouts. Tanks moved up and chased most of them away or killed them. They are sitting on the west side of a small hill and need to move up and over to reach the objectives. They are still strung back along the road and will take some time before all platoons are in postion to make the push over the hill.

Mean while A co in the south is within 200 yds of taking there objective. There tank support has actually been helping C co in the middle at the bridge. They have a better field of fire on the eastern side of the bridge then C COs tanks. A COs tanks have located and blown to pieces a PZ IIIe a few minutes ago and are engaging another one that was coming up behind the one they took out.

All morters have been dropping shells on the concentration in the north and have begun to thin them out. Ordered all three companys to lay all guns in on them as that was where the heaviest concentration of the enemy so far. Trying to get my light morters moved up into range of the Germans at the bridge. Have gotten A section of heavy MMG firing at the enemy troops in the north. They are pouring a heavy concentration of lead with deadly force on the 2 companys. I believe they will be broken in the north with in the next 20 minutes and the bridge will be cleared as well.

A co in the south are prepared to take there objectives within the next 10 minutes. They have really not run into much in the way of opposition so far. Mostly just trying to get across the terrain.

Co C has been held up just after they crossed the bridge. Having some trouble trying to get the infantry to move up. The Germans have already taken the small hill that sits in front of the center objectives. They hold the high ground and our troops are being fired on almost constantly. Trying to get there tank support moved up but there is an awful lot of congestion crossing the bridge. Have given orders for the infantry to get off the bridge and cross the stream north of there. There tanks have already taken out at least 4 251s and 2 Pz IIIg of the enemy.

Meanwhile B in the north has run into a world of hurt. After we were able to break the concentration of 2 companys of German troops they sent a counter attack of 3 platoons of PZ IIIg, Pz IVD and Stug tanks. Have moved another platoon of t-34s there way to help. In the last ten miutes of fighting we have already lost two tanks to none of theres. Trying to get my troops to move forward and this is very hard to do under the heavy fire from there tanks. Hoping to use the troops as suppresion fire so my tanks can get into firing position.

Have sent out orders to all companys they are to concentrate all there morter fire on these tanks as well as our big guns from HQ.

As soon as A takes and secures the southern objectives they are to move north and help C to take the center.

About ten minutes ago 3 stukas came in and really hurt us. Took out two of my IGs and a ATG plus An AAA gun. Our gunners managed to take out one of them as they pulled up from there run. There artty continues to harrass but not do too much damage anywheres.

For 50 minutes we have been slugging it out with the Germans. They have not let up a bit from the very first five minutes. They are tough fighters and do not care about dying. We have certanly sent a lot of them to there maker today. At least a half an hour ago they began a counter attack against our left flank in the north. B company took the brunt of that attack suffering at least 75% casualties. They were completely overrun at the north objectives. I have been spending all my time trying to get some sort of rescue going up there and to try and get our men out from the rear of the enemys line. There tanks have been going around hunting the left over remains of the company and shooting them down. They hit us with at least 30 tanks up there while at least 25 tanks hit C in the center at the bridge.
 
Have sent another 2 platoons of tanks to the north from the center. They have orders to not engage any more then three targets at a time. Have lost at least 55 total units this includes platoons of infantry plus recon and armor. We have to have taken out at least 75 of there tanks plus numerous platoons of infantry.
 
The objective in the south was taken some time ago and the center fell to us about 15 minutes ago. The tanks at the bridge and the infantry are now moving north and hunting down the German stragglers and shooting them like they have been our men. Our partisans have sent word that they took out 2 81 morters and are hunting the rest of them. Plus A Co in the south sent out recons and they took out 2 of the rocket launchers.
 
I believe we will have taken care of all the German tanks in the north within the next 30 minutes then we will begin to move toward the rear flags. Victory will be ours im sure but it will come at a terrible cost to our side.

The battle is finally ended. We beat the crap out of the Germans once again. We took out 1989 men plus 27 of there artty. Also got 15 of there APCs and 116 of there so called indestructible tanks. Plus we got two of those dam stukas that took out a couple of our IG guns. It came at a heck of a cost to us tho. We lost 625 of our gallant men as well 28 of our tanks were blown to smitherins. Losses that are very hard to take right now.
 
They only had 4 tanks left on the field as the battle ended and two of these were disabled. Towards the end of the battle our men were running round like mainiacs blowing every thing that even looked German.
 
We have already recieved our orders and will be on the move again even before the end of the month. We are to move about 550 Kilometers NE into Bello Russia and set up a defensvie line to stop the German advance at Smolensk. By the first of July we must be in our defenses and stop them there.
 
Have heard that we will not just get replacements for the armor we lost but will be getting all new upgrades to heavier tanks as well. Have heard also that we can expect to get some air support at Smolensk. This is a great fighting force we are building here as more and more of the men become veterans. I am happy to be leading such a tremendous group.
