Hacks Plays v3.4

Post by hack153 »

It's out and available!

One new coach profile added [:D][:D][:D]

Coach Williams
*Air Attack utilizing mostly singleback and empty backfield formations
*Ace 4 Spread
*Empty 5 Spread
*Gun 4 Spread
*Gun 4 Trips
*Gun 5 Spread
*GL / I 2TE

*4-3 Defense - Balanced. Uses 5-2 against Run Heavy formations

Other modifications:
*Blocking schemes to Coach Brown & Miller rebuilt (thanks to [&o][&o]DreamtheaterVT)
*Defensive plays and formations for Coach Brown & Miller rebuilt & added
*Multiple Running & Passing plays added to Coach Brown and Miller
*Formations added and deleted to Coach Brown for better balance
*Formation WR distance adjusted

***"PASSING TEMPLATE" is a blank template for a coach. Situations are already created, so all you have to do is add plays and adjust as needed. I will be adding more templates in the future.

++++There are several Coaching Playbooks that are NAME ONLY and have NOT been created.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hacks Plays v3.4 can be found at fbmax.com under unsorted files. It contains some plays by [&o][&o]DreamtheaterVT, some original plays, and some other created plays ([&o][&o]unknown creators).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am in the process of rebuilding the running plays for the rest of the coaches and am working on another coach. Should be out in a month or so.

Feedback is always appreciated.

These templates are extremely helpful. That could be a boost for creating playbooks by the community.

Many thx hack, for shearing your playbooks with us.
I guess its hard work, because i just briefly looked into the playbook editor & closed it immediately.
Don´t know what i would do without your outstanding work.
Big award. [&o]

I'm quite familiar with the 46 defensive scheme, having coached it and having a text book by Rex Ryan (Buddy Ryan's son) and several AFCA essays and presentations on the subject. There are two things that hold me back from making the 46, and they are:

1) the fact that moreso than any other defensive allignment, it is dependent on the offensive formation
2) A key premise of the 46 philosophy doesn't even have a logic equivlent in MaxFB.

Those two tie together and it would be impossible to make a true 46. Making the formation assuming TE is on the defense's left is easy...but beyond that I don't think it would be effective. Attached is a pic of how the 46 would allign against a single TE, 2RB set. There is no "align opposite" command that would be needed for the rush end (DE1), DE2 is more like a DT. I wish the game could allow it to work, but I don't see it unless the principles that make the 46 unique and effective are compromised.

thanks for the information.  one way that i might counter this is alway placing TE1 on the right side, and TE2 (if there is one) on the left.  if i don't like that idea, i might just make a modified version.

Are you talking about the 46?

The problem isn't that a 46 can't adjust to other formations IRL, it's that this game won't make the necessary adjustments. You can't really flip the defense at the line - and if you could the CPU wouldn't because you can't program it to do so. You can't force the offense into certain formations. The other problem is that the DT's over the guards don't have the logic in game to do their assignment. They don't rush at all, they occupy one OL while disrupting the other one. They accomplish this by reading the first step of the guard.

The basic idea of the 46 is to have numbers on both sides of the center. The weakside has a 3-2 advantage, and the DT over the guard will try to be effectively double-teamed by absorbing one blocker and disrupting the path of the other OLmen. The nose goes one-on-one with the center. The strong side has a 4-3 advantage, and the DT (DE2 above) over the guard does the same thing as the weakside DT, be effectively double teamed. This frees up the rush end to get depth and either cut off the backside or rush the QB, OLB1 keys backfield action and takes the flat (zone) or whichever RB goes left, and ILB, OLB2, the SS (SA1) can play games with the offense, as one will take the TE, one will take the RB, and the other is on diagnose and attack.

If you made the 46 in FBMax, it would be too simple to just run flipped plays and create mismatched numbers. I love the 46, it would have been the first defense I would have made if it wasn't such a differnent breed that no game really can properly utilize (it's in EA's NCAA series which allows play flips, but naturally EA butchered it to death)

Sorry for all the detail...I just don't see how it can be translated to MaxFB. Almost all defenses skew strongside, and while that doesn't really stop us from making effective odd and even front defenses - the 46 really is a different monster.

I asked for both an align opposite and a guard key command for the defense.  I didn't get those.

David did put in user defined zones, a FBPro like Man system, and a few other things for defense that have really helped, and he had some other items on the short list for 3.0 that would have been nice.  It's too bad we are not working on 3.0 right now, as yje power of the PDS would have been increased even more.
