What Happened??

Commander – Napoleon at War is the second in a series of high level turn based strategy games. It spans the Napoleonic Wars from 1805 to 1815, allowing players to control France or the Coalitions against it through the entire period or in shorter scenarios. Easy to learn, with fun and addictive gameplay, this is a Napoleonic wargame in the style of the old "Panzer General".

What Happened??

Post by GaryChildress »

OK. I took Vienna and a pop up said Austria was now a vassal state. Now on the map there is a kind of zone around Vienna one hex wide which my units appear not to be allowed to move into. The net effect of this is to block the road between Munich and the West of my empire. I have to go around Vienna through rough terrain which slows my movement. What's up with that? [&:]

This is there standard thing for vassel capitals, you can't occupy the city hex and neither can the vasels units but they get that ring of territory around you can't enter till they revolt. You can't occupy thoughs hexes because you are no longer at war with them, unlike saxony or prussia ect... were you can declare war and then enter their countries.

At least it's only the vassels capital and not all the cities[8|]

greetings, keeping units just next/adjacent to austrian hexes will reduce chances of revolt, a garrison, and i think strongly that "revolt-ing" units with enemy units adjacent will move lesser or nothing at all, once vienna is taken my advice is to move north and take saxony (before declaring on prussia) with the army, you can set all artillery on range to reduce leipzig walls and then attack with the infantry and/or cavalry, once saxony surrender, before prussia joins take the better positions west and south of berlin, (to go to hannover you must take out saxony) and take berlin and the valuable horse farm doing the most damage to prussia army, keep adjacent units to all prussians you can, so, you prevent that prussians strategy move to defend koenigsberg (the second capital), as fast as possible send a militia to "buda" to keep his production, and maybe other to "venice", better attack vienna and make austrian surrender before attack venice as if you take venice by strenght then his production capability will be drained for some turns, to strategic move you not need vienna, just high supply, that is, a good connect to paris, being france, wagon range is 15 hexes,

hope it helps,

with best regards,

alarick.
