AI improvement suggestion

WW2: Road to Victory is the first grand strategy release from IQ Software/Wastelands Interactive, which covers World War II in Europe and the Mediterranean. Hex-based and Turn-based, it allows you to choose any combination of Axis, Allied, Neutral, Major or Minor countries to play and gives you full control over production, diplomacy, land, air and naval strategy. Start your campaign in 1939, 1940 or 1941 and see if you can better the results of your historical counterparts. A series of historical events and choices add flavor and strategic options for great replayability.

AI improvement suggestion

Post by gwgardner »

Having no idea what specifically the developers are working on with regard to AI enhancement, I do imagine they are fiddling with front management, defense in depth, protection of flank. Attempting to avoid some of the more obvious flaws in the current system.

I hope that they will take some time to also work on the AI in:

1) sustained invasion offensives, both by land and sea;

2) taking opportunistic advantage of enemy weaknesses, example: in my current game I got Sweden to join the Axis, and took Oslo from the East. Norway surrendered, leaving all its coastal cities vacant of forces. So now the Axis controls Norway, but hasn't had time to move forces across to occupy the cities. The UK AI should take quick advantage of this and occupy those cities itself (assuming it can come up with some amphibious transport).

I encourage the developer to give the AI a massive cheat - let it see everything, regardless of fog of war options, so that it can take advantage of any human player weakness.
