commanders

Post by augustus »

I'm editing the files to create a "commanders" file that will have non-historical names for the generals for when playing with random stats. I've noticed there is a "commanders" file in each scenario folder, and in the game's data folder, and they seem to be the same. Would I have to replace them both with my new file, or just the ones in the scenario folder?

Sorry, I somehow missed this thread. I don't visit the modding subforum as often as the others, and this got past me. If you're still wondering about this, the answer is that the change would have to be made to each file separately. Please note, though, that the code knows how many generals there are in commanders.txt, so if you add any more they'll be ignored. So the only way to do this would be to take out historical generals -- presumably the 9-percenters you've never heard of and replace them. You'd still get the historical photos (and, unless you chop them, bios), but this would work. Seems like an awful lot of work, though...
