colonies..

This sequel to the award-winning Crown of Glory takes Napoleonic Grand Strategy to a whole new level. This represents a complete overhaul of the original release, including countless improvements and innovations ranging from detailed Naval combat and brigade-level Land combat to an improved AI, unit upgrades, a more detailed Strategic Map and a new simplified Economy option. More historical AND more fun than the original!

colonies..

Post by jnpoint »

I'm right now in the middle of a war, and the opponent is taking my colonies. How does he do that? And what can I do to take them back? They are as far as I can read OFF MAP!

Colonies are abstracted and losing and stealing them is a semi-random event. I'm not sure what tips the scale in the favor of one side or the other.

There are two upgrades you can buy, Colonial Warfare I & II, I believe, that greatly increase your chance to take colonies.  I usually get the first one fairly early on so I can start to whittle away at Britain's posessions  (I usually play France).  Other than that the only way to get them is by treaty.  I ALWAYS take whatever my opponent has in a treaty.  Colonies are like cash in the bank.
Occasionally, and randomly, problems and solutions collide. The probability of these collisions is inversely related to the number of committees working on the solutions. -- Me.

Don't forget they bring in spices as well, so they smell good too. [;)] I also take as many as I can in any surrender treaties I create.

Just to add: those upgrades also makes it harder for the enemy to steal your colonies.
