1948 NFL results for week 4

Post by Old Coach »

Below are the standings for my 1948 NFL for MaxFB for week 4 and the schedule of games for week 5. As you can see there a couple of "stinkers" on the schedule for week 5; Detroit @ Boston, Green Bay @ Dallas, Baltimore @ Pittsburgh. The Colts are the surprise in the East and the Oilers are a huge surprise in the West. The headliner for week 5 will be the Chicago Bears @ The Cleveland Rams. This will be a classic battle between a great defense in the Bears and a potent offense in the Rams.

I will post some action shots from week 4 as soon as I have time.

Here are the scores for week 4. The game between the Giants and Redskins was a battle to the end with Washington kicking a fieldgoal with 5 seconds left in the game to win.

This is a picture from the game between the New York Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Titans won 10-7 at the Polo Grounds. This picture shows Titan RB, Otis Taylor cutting back against the grain on his way to a 29 yd TD; the winning TD for N.Y. Pittsburgh lost 4 turnovers- the last one being an interception at the Titans 6 yard line with 1:50 left in the game. The Titans then ran out the clock.

Here are some action pictures from the game between the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. The Redskins won 13-10 on a FG with about 5 seconds left in the game. I played this one against one of my brothers in law. I had the Redskins and with about 1:55 left to play, I had a 4th and 1 at the New York 8. I trailed 10-7 and almost went for the 1st down, but I chickened out and kicked the game tying FG. My defense bailed me out with an INT and return to the Giants 14 with about 14 seconds left. I ran one play, called timeout and kicked the FG.
