Football season is almost here!

Post by Old Coach »

As I stated in my posts, I'm at the half way point of my 1948 NFL season. Since football is almost here and my real love is college football, I might suspend play with this league and play with my college leagues for a while. If I do this, I'll come back to the 1948 NFL in a few weeks or so and finish it up. The college league that I will probably work with for a time is based on the 1964 season. I am also in the middle of setting up a college league based upon the 1933 SEC season. That league will include the 13 original SEC members- Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Sewanee, Tennessee, Tulane and Vanderbilt- plus 13 others which will serve as non-conference opponents. I will play full schedules with only Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi and LSU. With the other SEC teams I'll play their conference games and maybe 1 or 2 non-conference games. I have finished the teams' uniforms and am currently working on their stadiums. That means I'm taking stadiums downloaded from Gary Sorrell and others and modifying the BMP's to meet my needs. After I finish that, I'll set the league up in MaxFB and then modify rosters and playbooks. There won't be any finese spread offenses with 5 wideouts; this league will be single wing, ground pounding, caveman football! There will be bruises, blood and broken bones! I'll play several rain games just to get the mud too.

You have a point about seeing who might win a game between the 85 Bears and 75 Steelers. It wouldn't be hard to set up a "Best Of ...." League. I would like to have a rematch of the 68 Colts vs the 68 Jets or 69 Vikings and 69 Chiefs as a Super Bowl opponents league or something similar. That may be a project for some time down the road. I have done some uniform work for a 1963/64 AFL & NFL replay but the 1968 season is always in the back of my mind as a project because of the 68 Colts. As to Ohio State, Penn State & USC, I'm not a Big 10 or Pac 10 fan. My passion is SEC football. I'm looking at projects that include several eras in Tennessee football such as the Peyton Manning years, etc. Those are projects that are down the line sometime. Maybe, by the time I get to those, MaxFB 3.0 will be out.
