What does massive amounts of air cover do?

I had the same problem one time getting the Afrika Corps over to Tobruk one game. No amount of Italian naval units could save their butts. That was before the updates.

I've never successfully amphib assaulted norway. Even if I clear the North Sea with my tac bombers first, the British ships keep coming until my landing force is sunk. I believe the only fix for this is to either put Oslo in the Baltic, or allow amphib to land the turn it puts to sea. As to my knowledge neither fix has been implemented.

I have successfully air assualted norway with airborne divisions, but they eventually get wiped out without f/u ground forces.

As for moving units to N Africa, that is totally different. That is a naval transport mission which can easily be completed within one turn without intereception. Simply load aboard transports, not amphib, go to naval screen, go to port where you loaded units, find transports, click on them, then click on Tripoli. They arrive immediately, can be unloaded and even move. To transport to Tobruk directly you need to have captured Greece and transport out of Athens, as Tobruk is in Eastern Med.
