Downfall - probably mine.

Post by sprior »

This is Andy Mac's Downfall senario and postulates the failure of Tube Alloys and Manhattan and the Russinas sitting tight, thank you very much. It's not a whole map scenario, but runs from LA in the SE corner to Java in the SW, Rangoon in the NW and Butte in the NE. Most of the DEI, China and Burma is blanked out. French Indo-China and Thailand are worth nothing in points, this scenario is all about The Big One, the invasion of Japan.

This scenario is all about the correct application of overwhelming force, 18 US CVs at Guam, 6 RN at Peleliu, 39 CVEs at Manila and another 10 or so at Pearl. And that's without the reinforcements.

Anyway, I do have a plan. The Commonwealth forces will be used to retake Hong Kong, but they will need to beg some transports off the US. The US army forces at Manila will take Formosa and Pescatores. The 6 marine divs, 3 each at Manila and Pearl, will prep for the invasion of Japan, probably Kumamoto. In the meantime the bombers will pummel the cities, ports and airfields.

But I need recon, lots and lots of recon. The thing with scenarios, as opposed to the GC, is that you have no idea where the other side's forces are (unless you take a peek). So it's snap, snap, grin, grin, wink, wink, nudge, nudge for a while.

The bombers switch to ground attack at Takao as the ground troops approach. 60,000 battle crazed, combat hardened (or not) troops will soon be storming the beaches.

I'll try but remember that moderation in war is imbicility.

Those crafty japs can spring some nasty surprises:

Japanese aircraft losses
Ki-67-Ia (T) Peggy: 5 destroyed, 8 damaged

Allied Ships
BB Maryland, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage

And yes, she's at 88% flt. Ouch
