Link with FOG?

Hannibal: Rome and Carthage in the Second Punic War is a new and innovative turn-based strategy game that puts you in command of the Carthaginian military during a period of total war over land and sea with the young Roman Republic. With this military juggernaut of the ancient world at your disposal, you will vie for control over Italy, Carthage, Spain and the Mediterranean Sea using a combination of strategic political maneuvering and sheer tactical skill both on land and sea. Play consists of two layers; the first is a strategic layer where you must prudently steer your forces to the destruction of Rome’s army and the ultimate destruction of the Republic and city itself. At your disposal are a variety of unit types and historical commanders from which to form your armies. On the tactical scale, when meeting the enemy in battle, skilled leadership and a knack for war come into play as you use a simple but engaging battle system to best your opponents.

Link with FOG?

I am quite interested by the game. It look nice BUT I hope they will use cinergies between this game and FOG.
I think it would be nice to have an optional rule to resolve land combat with FOG. The two program are iwned by Matrix/slitherine so that should be easy on the legal point of view. I hope they will think about it from the onset.

Best regards

I agree that the FOG engine should be used in a strategy map (i abandonned hoped to see a Legion Arena engine in Legion 2 but this would be something i like too). I think it's unlikely to see that in this game though. But Matrix/Slitherine should consider it for a next title (Strategy game set in Ancient or Medieval times with the FOG engine for battles).

That would make for a great game indeed.

Skanvak, no offense, but one should not have to know much about programming to realize that combining to totally different game engines even in just a remotely userfriendly way is a huge undertaking.

Besides, I played the demo of Hannibal a few months ago, and with just about any other strategical-scale game, the nature of its combat resolution is very closely tied with other aspects of the game, so any re-design to the battle system  would surely mean the rewrite of the entire game, likely from scratch.

They already did it for Empire in Arms.

But the point is moot as there is no multi player. Though I could share your entusiasm for the design and wish those programmer good luck but no Rome and no multi is just a big NO for me. This game fail.
