IMHO Pros and Cons

Post by bo »

Mostly pros about this game in my opinion.
PRO'S
Map-excellent, very pleased with the map my kudos to the artist. A-plus
AI-very decent AI very aggressive which is a good thing-A
Gameplay- well done fast moving and realistic for the most part.-A
Interface-Good interface for controlling most aspects of the game-A-plus
Ground war-Very good seems realistic.-A
Air war-Well done, read complaints about airpower but I feel used in the right way can be devastaing.- A
Naval action. Decent but could be improved mostly in the ship to ship combat. B-plus

Cons-not really con's but some needed attention by the programmers.

AI Naval-aggressive maybe too aggresive, EG- When AI's fleet is overwhelmed in superiorty it should retreat to fight another day, it does not do this. AI ground war, Japan easily defeats China but it takes 6 months to take the Phillipines? Not good. AI has to bring more power to bear at a given point and end move after move of the same old same old that does not work. [not a programmer do not know if this area can be improved]
Naval supply-I could be hazy on this one but I feel ships need to be resupplied just like all other forces in the game, every turn at sea supplies reduced slowly that would effect combat and travel restrictions, I could be wrong but it seems a fleet can stay at sea a whole game [4 or 5 years] and never return to base except for repairs.
Ships lost interface-Great idea to add that one to reports but wished you could have extended it to all loses including land based air that destroyed ships.
Upgrading-Again not sure about this one but I am in July 1943 as the allies playing the normal button and I got my first upgrade, happened to be in the naval part of the game and I have poured every penny I can scrape up into research. Maybe it makes sense and maybe not, any opinions on this? Any opinion positive or negative would be appreciated on any of my observations.

Overall-game is well done, congratulations!
