More Modding Questions

Post by GaryChildress »

1) I'm guessing that if each hex map on my campaign map connects with 6 other maps on the campaign map, then I would have to have 6 exit VLs on each of my tactical maps? Is this correct?

2) Next question: I want to do an 8 x 8 campaign map with the front line straight down the middle. Along this front line the Germans will be deployed to the North and the Allies to the South on each tactical map along this middle row of maps. How do I guarantee that when the game starts the Allies will always be on the south side and the Germans on the north?

Thanks. [&o]

Thank you Andrew.

One more question for this evening. I think CC:MT is probably my favorite CC as far as the units involved. Is it possible to Mod LSA or TLD to use CC:MT type modern units? In other words, I notice that CC:MT uses a lot of the same effects for anti-tank weapons as the WWII versions do. Is it possible to make the changes necessary in TLD or LSA to insert modern combat units in place of the WWII units. For instance modern AT weapons would have a longer range than their WWII counterparts. Wouldn't it simply be a matter of changing ranges, armor piercing and graphics to make a modern warfare mod out of LSA or TLD?

Thanks.

Yes it is

The ere is a mod for CC5 called red Storm Rising... this is very similar to CCMT

You can download a beta of the RSR conversion to tLD (if you have it)

it wouldn't take a greatr deal to import the data into LSA

get the RSR beta here:  http://www.closecombatwar.com/Andrew/CC ... Rv1.00.exe

No. If an uncrossable river divides any two hexs you wouldn't connect them. Also as done in LSA you could have two pairs of entry/exit VLs joining two maps. Remember your hex shape on the strat map is largely hypothetical unless you're going to do something like this to the battle maps

Ok, qualifying my yes above.

if your six sides want to join to the six other maps then yes they need 6 VL's

if you don't want them to be passable (for any reason, river, mountain, forest, 500miles, etc) you do not have to have exit VL's

If a map doesn't have any hindrances between it and the 6 surrounding maps then I would need at least 6 exit VLs, correct? In other words if I left off an exit VL to a joining map then there would be no way to enter into that joining map from the current map and it would cause problems in game, correct?

EDIT: My battle maps will remain square, BTW.

Actually it is feasable to make hexagonal maps in CC. Just paint the edges black and code as impassable. hmmmm.........[;)]
