Showing full infantry teams and squads

Post by sztartur2 »

NEW VERSION IN POST LATER IN THIS TOPIC.

Gents,

I have changed all the Infantry XML files to show full infanty squads (10 soldiers) and teams (2-3 soldiers).

Istallation.
1.Extract the infamtry_modded_xml directory to the <game directory>\data\infantry folder
2.Save the original xml files for safety.
3. copy the modded xml files into <game directory>\data\infantry folder

Do not forget to turn limit infantry option OFF!

Enjoy :) .

Cool !
How is damage factored on the 10-men teams ? I mean how many figures are removed for each loss step ?

Damage is handled very well. You get more corpses on the bloody battlefield. If a squad is taken out by one shot it's a mass grave...

Thanks for the Mod! It's really great and now there are a lot more troops on the field. It also gives you a better grasp on how many casualties the squad took. Instead of light or heavy you can see if you lost only one or six.

Sweet!! I messed around with this before but was really hoping someone would edit the XML's. Thanks sztartur.

This is one of the best things about the game. I knew once some talented modders jumped onboard this thing is going to blow up. I just wish I had some talent or the time to do some modeling. Keep em' coming guys.

Nice work. I'm running a mid-range system and was wondering if using this mod will have an impact on performance?

It should. Think 3 tanks then 10 tanks x number of squads. While not as demanding as tank models they are still 3D models.

Also if you have a battle with a large number of squads and it slows down the game, you can always go to the options menu and change it to limited squads until the next battle.

Szartur, attached is your mod but JSGME compatible.

I did a quick test loading "HSG Contact at Lipki 4040", on my system the difference between 10 men and 3 men (limit infantry option) is 5-7 fps.

I started to have severe performance issues in the bigger scenarios so I had to turn it off.

Did you modify each xml by hand or did you have a batch program or ?

I modified by hand. (But you are right it could have been done by a program in most cases.)
