Just Bought HUE

Post by nimitz98 »

So, I just bought HUE, and I like HCE, but the ANW game window is about four inches wide, and I can't see anything. Any help?

Look in the directory where H3 3.10 was installed and run the H3Launcher.exe.  In there you can set your window size.  Holler back if you can't find it or need more detail.

Well, I got it to run full screen, but now the colors are messed up. For example, the border of the amber screen is blue.

You need to run the application in a window, set the horizontal and vertical to a few pixels less than your display and let us know how that works.

Works great now! Thanks! [:D] I just got the boxed game in the mail today. Is it supposed to have only one CD?

Yep, just one, but it is a DVD, not a CD.  It would have taken 4-6 CDs.

How do I increase the window size in Harpoon 3.6.3?

First, make a backup of the Harpoon3.ini file.

Then, adjust the width and height settings in that file. I don't recall if the Launcher app is compatible with the 3.6.3 version. That came out when XP was a new OS so it would run full screen just fine. Under W7... no telling. So you'll have to play with the compatibility settings (i.e .set to WinXP).

That version is included for those folks who wanted to play older (i.e. DB2000) scenarios. Those scenarios where quite creative and plentiful, and... they addressed real/perceived defects in the game engine by editing database values. We respect the effort, but we had some serious heartburn with some of the claims. All the same, we wanted to give folks the opportunity to experience all of that creative work.

Nimitz98, the default installation location for the H3 3.6.3 in HUE is C:\Matrix Games\Harpoon 3 v3.6.3\. In that directory is an installer for the launcher program mentioned earlier in this thread. Run InstallH3_INI_editor.exe and tell it the proper location to install to.

Once the installer is done you'll have a Start Menu shortcut to the "Harpoon3 ini config" or go to the 3.6.3 directory and run Harpoon3_ini.exe to change the resolution and other settings. I just tested on both XP 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit and it installed and works on both for me without further changes.
