Art Question

I've done some searching without success so pardon me if this has been asked and answered many times. While waiting for a PBEM turn I've started to do some modding. I'm using the AlliedPlanes folder in the art file for individual plane art. I'm not creating my own art, but am using art from a couple of WITPAE sites. Problem is, when I call up an air unit in the game, the side art of the plane looks like a four year old has drawn random lines and dots on the picture with a black Sharpie. Looking at the bmp file in Paint or other viewing software, the pictures don't have those problems.

Am I doing something wrong?

Not unheard of. Where'd you get this art?

It's been quite a while since I downloaded it, so a potentially faulty memory might be in play, but I believe most of it came from various posters on Shep's thread which is currently on about page 4 of the modding forum here or the web page linked to that thread. It's great art, just not so much in my game.
