My Review

Germany At War: Operation Barbarossa 1941 is an elegant turn-based design, inspired by classics such as Panzer General, but with more of a historical focus. You command the German forces through a branching historical campaign covering the entire 1941 campaign as well as part of the 1942 campaign. Dozens of scenarios stretch from the Soviet border all the way to Archangel and towards Astrakhan, the original military goals of Operation Barbarossa. Step into a wargame where your performance will rewrite history, through an addictive combination of compelling gameplay, realistic events and challenging battles.

I may just pick this up based on Jim's review. Can you only play as Germany, or is Russia playable as well?

It's ok but not great. Again I feel I have played this game over and over. Should have started with Poland and France . True they may backtrack and do this but it won't be the same. I don't see any longevity to this game. If I want an in dept game on the the war in the east I would play another more historical game that cost just a bit more than this game. Also it should be noted that over on gogheads that one yes man is followed by another. I visit the site daily and I'm often amused that if you disagree whin with the select few you are showed the door. So please take with a grain of salt anything that comes or spues from them.

Not one user created mod...after several months after release. Enough said.

I bought the game as well rogo and I also noticed that no user mad mods which means not much interest. I am still playing panzer corps and only played this game once. I don't like the graphics, not that crisp

Game has only been out 6 weeks, I'm sure it takes time to learn the editor features.
The graphics are a little weak but I'm enjoying the game as a diversion from some of the monster titles out there.
Anyone already finished the Grand Campaign?

Perhaps players are actually enjoying the content the game has "now" and thus the lack of "mods" ?
BTW , it appears a very large and well done scenario has been created by a player whose putting the finishing touches on it.

Not sure what grogheads has to do with this title either.

Hello,

thanks for the nice review.

As for modding: its a bit tricky to do even a single map at the moment.

To create a campaign is impossible without our help right now as the needed informations are not there for the players yet.
We are working on a new editor that makes creating single maps easy and on docs for campaign making.

But first we will add a German translation to the game.

I was really enjoying it until the update bricked my campaign on scenario 8 or 9. Trying to restart but I HATE losing progress like that in any game.

agreed - this is not good.

Could you please send us your savegame or several of them so we can see if we can do something about this ?

Did you try an earlier save so you would not have to start over ?
