River Crossing?

Post by Kanov »

I've seen in the campaign.txt file some leftover lines from LSA, I'm interested in the ones about river crossing, is it workable in PITF? how does it work exactly?

Also the bridges, can they be blown up in PITF? I'm guessing not, but the lines in the data file are there.

River crossing was not a significant part of the Mortain fighting, so it's not used in the game. There are no river crossing connections defined in PitF and there's no space allocated to show the availability in the UI.

The bridges cannot be blown in the stock game. Adding bridge data and bridges.azp sprites ala LSA should work, however. You may have problems with the UI however, as it is not used and thus wasn't tested.

Ok, there's no river crossing in vanilla PitF because it wasn't used in the Operation it is representing.

I don't have LSA so I don't know how it actually worked. I have some doubts, please help me to understand.

-Do you need a command on the BG actions menu that just isn't there in PitF for river crossings?
-What do you mean by "no space allocated to show the availability in the UI"?
-What is the difference between LSA river crossing and normal movement between two maps separated by a river where the entry VL's would be located on opposite sides of the banks of the river, one in each map?

I don't know how bridges actually worked there either.

-With "The bridges cannot be blown in the stock game", do you mean they may actually be blown in a mod or that it will never be possible to blow a bridge in the PitF engine? the button to explode the bridge is not there so I guess is not possible ever.
-What do "adding bridge data and bridges.azp sprites" will accomplish?
