Graphics problem when pressing escape

Sometimes when you press escape, the menu doesn't appear and the visuals disappear, requiring a restart.

I'm not entirely sure what triggers this, it might be random.

Hi ComradeP,
It seems the game window lost the focus.
So the escape button forces the application to quit from full screen mode instead of open the main menu.

I am getting the issue after an alt-tab in the battle screen. It is a bit of an annoyance, so a fix would be appreciated!
