BtR Flak evacuation

Post by Soldmaxim »

Dear All,

I enjoy playing BtR/ED for the last 2 years - mostly German side with 1 full 43 campaign (+ many more ED) won by May 44 so far.
Now playing 44 full - it's my 3'rd start and I just reached turn 100 which is May 31st...
To my great disappointment Gustav Line broken as had happened historically regardless keeping all but one defending units "grey" and almost all rail yards in Northern Italy functioning. Roma had fallen to Allies 31st May as well which must be "well ahead the schedule"...

One question to someone who may know - do the flak units self retreat? or should I continue to relocate them from locations soon to be lost? My "evacuation" of Flak from Venarotta a/f costed me almost all 500 points.

Thanks in advance and best wishes to all from Moscow and Mother Russia...

Well, for my experience you must retire the flak guns. If you don't, you'll lose it forever.

Some recent observations by June 22 44 Long Campaign as German side:

When D-day land invasion started I've lost rail-flak unit I had in Caen. Those seem to disappear forever. Therefore I increased arming ground troops around Normandy with extra Flak - some have over 150 guns - losses at strafing missions are incredible!
Italian front - airfield in Rimini failed to Allies when it is still behind defence line!!! Was nice to find though that those units are taken away temporarily and should reappear within 30 (now 18) days...

No 152 or 262A yet produced with up to 80 daily research a/c, but almost all 109G replaced with either 190D, Re-2005, 109AS

Most likely... but they are there for two weeks - which exceeds Market Garden 8 days - where else should I expect those paratroopers?

Summarizing - this "unhistorical" flow of ground combat events (why the damned city of Caen is lost on the 4th day after D as well as Cherbourgh one day after...) makes me save every turn keep it for 8-10 days. But with little interest to waste extra time replaying those turns I moved all supporting Flak and air units to Paris area... Has anyone reached July-August 44? What the future holds-?..

Adding results here - don't wish to create another thread. 10th of July 44... Normandy Front stands steady. Over 600 Ta-152H and 150 152C, discontinued production of 190D. Me262A shown as 08/44. Continue to reequip all 190A6/8 with 152C and 109G6AS+190D with 152H. Night fighters every turn add 10-15 mix of 110GR7/88G/219A2/154A. All original 110g replaced with 217N2.
Typical day results - over 200 Allied planes to under 50 Axis lost (including airfield strafing). Victory (Der Sieg) must be near...
