Production Question

Post by New York Jets »

I've read the riles and am sitting down to my first game. How do I build laboratories? I have been unable to figure it out, thus far.

If you click on the research tab, you should see small numbers above the various research categories, indicating the number of laboratories you currently own in that particular category. By clicking on the plus button next to the number, you can build another laboratory for that category, by clicking on the minus button, you can sell one (you can even sell all laboratories in one category if you are so inclined). The purchase and upkeep costs for laboratories can be found at the bottom of the screen.

Do I still make progress if I sell all my labs? I haven't read anything that tells me that or not.

The simple answer is "NO", if you have no other labs in a given tech tree.

Ultimately, you'll have to decide which labs to keep/expand, and which labs to scrap off. It can be argued that Russia, for instance, does not need a Naval research lab and would need the PP elsewhere.

Thanks for the reply. I am enjoying the game so far. Wish there was more control of research though. Not super detailed like Hearts of Iron. But, it is taking forever for armed aircraft to research, even though I am focusing on it.

Meanwhile, gas technology is falling like candy from a busted piñata! And, I would actually like to not research gas and be the first to use it.

Just because gas is developed, does not mean that you have to upgrade your artillery with it right away. You can wait till the AI or your MP opponent uses it first, "then upgrade". In the meantime continue developing the artillery tech tree. The way this game has it diplomacy setup concerning poison gas is a little iffy...
