Why wont this TF move?

Post by stretch »

I'm sure I am missing something stupid here. This TF has just sat here like this for 2 turns without leaving port. I've tried with home port set to both Noumea and Ndeni, though I dont think that should matter with a destination of Ndeni set (it is a green dot base, no units present). I use both home port approaches with other TFs and they leave for the destination.

There are no ops points spent, and loading has been complete for both turns. There are no enemy bases closer then Lunga and no enemy TF sightings south of there for several turns.

EDIT:

Ugh, there's another TF in the hex set to follow this one, which is still loading, so I suspect this one is holding here until it is ready. just like at sea when you see a TF slow down to allow a follower to maintain position.

You have it docked. Undock it.

Pretty sure I found the problem; edited my original post to add it.

I can't see anything obvious. A couple of things you might try:

Try setting the home port to Luganville (assuming you have that) and set the destination hex open ocean near where you're going.

I don't think this is a problem: the TF has additional loading capcity. it says "Loading Complete," so I don't think it's still loading supply or troops. But click the "Load Supplies" and "Load Troops" buttons and see if you see anything unusual in there. If you have a "cancel loading" option, click on it.

Yes - they aren't moving because the TF set to follow them is not moving.

I don't think that is the problem. Is it? Anyone? I don't think I have ever "undocked" a convoy to get it going.

I have no idea. I'm pretty new, but I've found my convoys set to human control dont move even if fully loaded unless they're undocked. CS convoys I don't need to worry about. I'm most definitely wrong it seems. But I've definitely run into multiple cases where my convoys didn't move until I undocked them, but this could be coincidence.

Not in my experience; regardless of docked or not docked; once a TF ends loading, and assuming it still has operation points left, it will move on to its destination.

This would have no effect.

It's definitely the task force set to follow, which is still loading, that is holding it up.

As usual, I looked for the reason for 20 minutes, gave up and posted the question, then looked again and found the answer 30 seconds later. I need to learn how to fool myself into thinking I posted for help, so I find these things faster on my own.

Don't you even have one DD or something with ASW to go with it?

Don't know time frame nor size of Noumea port, but if you undock it, then dock the follow-on TF, it may load faster and you'll be on your way.
