Where is the forum ?

Time of Fury spans the whole war in Europe and gives players the opportunity to control all types of units, ground, air and naval. Not only that, each player will be able to pick a single country or selection of countries and fight his way against either the AI or in multiplayer in hotseat or Play by E-Mail. This innovative multiplayer feature will give player the chance to fight bigger scenarios against many opponents, giving the game a strategic angle that has no equal in the market. The game uses Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.

Where is the forum ?

Post by nukkxx5058 »

Hi, I'm just rediscovering this game I purchased years ago but never really played. The game is great in fact, having good fun playing it. I'm just wondering : where is the forum ?? This one seems deserted. Are they still people playing mp games ?

It's dead.

Wonderful game, I've played it many times. It just has some flaws and lack of developer support that drove people away.

In your forum settings, make sure you can read threads older than 365 days, and you'll find some threads, especially by rasputitsa, that outline the flaws and some solutions.

What are the problems with the game ?
I recently purchased SC World at War and SC War in Europe because they were recommended to me by several friends but at a first glance (need to play some SC to be sure) TOF seems far more detailed and superior to me. Particularly the map scale which allows for much more units. So I guess that the game has some flaws ? I haven't played enough to notice anything irritating so far with TOF (or with SC BTW).
Would appreciate your views about it ...
Thx

i've only tested the game to make sure it works etc with windows 10, so not really a fully developed player as such, i liked what i saw, just don't have much time to play any more, as spend far too much time now testing to have little left in the end of the day

Will have to spend more time on it but same, my time is limited. I already play too many games :-)
But I'm quite sure that at one point in time I will want to start a TOF PBEM full campaign ...
If there are still players ... ;-) I shall see ...

After v1.01 every attempt to fix the problems just seemed to bring on more problems and CTDs.

One of the main problems is that terrain combat odds modifiers are only being applied to Poland, which is country 01 in the countries list. There are CTDs on start-up, which reduced for me when I used a smaller unit images pack, stock images number over 1000, I use a pack of about 700. I think many of the CTDs are due to conflicts in scenario events, which is minefield.

v1.06 which was adapted for STEAM and is the last update, introduced a new hic-up which was in applying the 'armour in cities' combat modifier in all cases, regardless of terrain, armour effectiveness is reduced to 50%.

I stuck with a modified v1.05, which is not perfect, but can give good results, but some scenarios are more problematic than other. I am using a modified 'Fall Gelb', but that still crashes if the US enters the war, fixed by adding data to keep the US out.

Most of the problems can be fixed by adjusting the data in the game 'const.ini' file, or moving features like terrain combat modifiers into the country specific '.ini' files.

The game is open to modifying the data files, which is good for fixing, or adding features, but a nightmare in PBEM, because your opponent could modify units' performance at will.

This is probably the greatest game that never was, the whole of WW2 in Europe from the Atlantic to the Urals and Norway to North Africa and very rewarding when it works, but high maintenance to keep it running.

I loved it and still do, but it's hard work.
