Crashes while setting ambush orders in deployment phase

I'm getting regular crashes while setting ambush orders in the deployment phase. It happens on many maps and seems pretty easy to reproduce. Spend a minute or two selecting one or more units, pressing M, and then clicking in random direction and you should produce a crash. I've auto-mailed a batch of crash reports related to this in the past hour.

are you steam or site version?

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just attach it to your post as it's a Txt file which is then permitted to attach to the forum.

Run the game as Administrator
Right click the game in your Steam Library.
Go to Properties then the Local Files tab.
Click Browse Local Files.
Locate the game executable (the application).
Right click it and go to Properties.
Click the Compatibility tab.
Check the Run this program as an administrator box.
Click Apply.

In some cases, running Steam itself in Administrator mode may resolve the issue:

Navigate to your Steam install folder (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam).
Right click the Steam executable.
Follow the above steps to set it to Run as Administrator
Restart Steam.

site version is simple, install as admin and run as admin, then the correct file permissions are given and less errors will happen.

Thanks for the suggestions. Changing compatibility has no effect on this (the crashes still occur). I assume the automatic crash reports sent to Matrix contain system information (Windows version, DX version etc)?

(EDIT) Having located the crash reports, I see they do contain systems info. All of these ambush crashes produce error report entries like "WARNING Failed to place MG unit" so it looks like a code prob rather than something at my end.

I have the same problem with Kasserine Pass, when I'm looking the complet map, select all units, press "M" and click in opponent side map.

The game frozen some seconds and after crashes.

I've been having similar issues with crashing during deployment although not necessarily with the Ambush order. It happens so often, I want to scream.

Thanks for the information guys. I did manage to find the issue. It would only happen when double clicking from what I can tell, which I imagine is second nature for many people just not me! But will be fixed in the next update.

It also threw up an issue where specific types of crash are not showing up in the error logs (otherwise this would have been fixed long ago). So doubly thanks.

It just happened to me again. When I was moving units into rough positions everything was smooth but when I selected the first unit to fine tune the placement and then pressing M to put him in ambush, it crashed... Thanks alot, Pip...
