CAP and CVs

If I set the aircraft on one of my CVs to CAP will those aircraft escort aircraft from another CV or land based aircraft that are conducting naval or tactical missions?
Secondly will aircraft on CAP intercept any tactical or naval attacks by the enemy within range?

Yes, it will escort any friendly sorties within range.

Secondly will aircraft on CAP intercept any tactical or naval attacks by the enemy within range?

They will intercept enemy air attacks within range.

Both the above answers are contingent on them having enough escort/intercepts remaining, and of remaining at strength 5 or higher.
