Tips to get started (newbie question)

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Unlike many other games there are no important mods in terms of gameplay - vanilla is pretty much all there is and all anyone plays. There are map mods or other aesthetic mods you can choose from?

Many do start playing with the Road to Leningrad scenario.

Yeah, no important mods though you can poke around some of graphics mods which many players like.

I learned the game a few months back and here is the thread outlining what I ended up doing: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4771870

Thanks Telemecus and redrum68
I meant the mods of the maps I read that many use "rainly day" and "jison map" are purely aesthetic, they do not add anything to the gameplay, just as I thought.
Very interesting your thread redurum68 now I will try to start "Road to Leningrad"
I have to start understanding the "game mechanics" especially supply / logistic step and the "chain of command"

thanks again to everyone [:)]
