Doolitle raid in WitP AE

Post by Podolano »

Hi All,

I've browsed through the posts here and found nothing on the subject:

Is it possible to simulate the Doolittle raid down here in WitP AE?
Meaning, having B-25s take-off from a carrier close to Japan and land somewhere else in China or Russia?

I've seen some B-25 squads in the West Coast but there seems to be no way of making them "carrier capable" and trained for that.

Thanks!

No, it is not.

It would have entailed a lot of work for a small return for the developers.

It's not, but feel free to try a normal carrier air raid on Tokyo early in the war. If your opponent isn't vigilant, you might get your own mini Pearl Harbor. I've tried this a couple times in my games. Unfortunately, in both cases I was detected before I got in range.

Using the editor, you could create a special carrier capable model of B-25 and a squadron that would use it (the squadron would also need to be carrier trained). While the squadron wouldn't be able to land a different base after bombing their target, you could use a house rule where you get 1 raid with them and then disband the squadron.

Yes, LST has this built into his mod, Bottlenecks in the Pacific.

In game terms it wouldn't have a measurable effect. Propaganda victories don't feed any bellies or put boots on any feet.

We could have you score some PPs if you rescue Amelia Earhart.

If she's grown a beard and is wearing coconut shells for a bra you would lose PPs.

Not that there's anything wrong with that ...

Is this a trick question? A spice has nothing on a yacht in service of the US Navy in the defence of the Philippines.

Not a trick question. It has been asked by many young men and many young men have answered it. Of course, you have to understand the question and its importance. [;)]

Isn't she the only Gilligan's Island performer left? I guess I could Google that.

I get the Gilligan's Island cast confused with the Lost in Space cast. [8|][8|]

In the Bottlenecks mod you can. You get a unit of carrier capable B-25s.

It's intended you withdraw them soon after.

What does the first "P" stand for in this context?
