Artillery attack going down on upgrade

Post by Zanotirn »

I have upgraded my (non-mech) artillery design (using the existing model, not new one). The main replacements were changing combat armour with heavy combat armour and 240mm howitzer with 300mm.

Design-wise it had B.design go from 99 to 118 and arm. design from 96 to 99. Firepower stat changed from 1000 to 1200 No other changes.

BUT

While its hitpoints went up as expected, the soft attack decreased from 91/182 to 82/164 and hard attack decreased from 30/61 to 27/54. Is there any reason for why the attack would go down when no stats decreased?

Yes, it's because the unit gained more attacks per round. There is an attack threshold, at least for artillery (and airforces); once a unit design goes over this attack threshold, it gains another attack per round and its firepower value is stabilized.

Where do I see that ingame? I mean if I compare 2 moels, how would i get that one is actually better and not worse because of that

Simply click on the model itself and check its stats. If you hover over the stats it tells you what they are; the number that is circled in red is the number of attacks per round.
