HB (Allies) vs MM (Axis) No MM for now.

So I am sure you are all aware of how badly MM is mauling me in this game. The problem is I played my turns too fast and didn't even bother looking at the map on the rain turns in 1940. So I didn't notice that MM was massing forces in the South. So his getting a retreat result on a 1:1 attack against my division in the maginot line that was set to defend doomed me. What are the odds of that anyway? In any event, he could not have dome this is I had been at all competent.

This was the sorry state of my forces at the beginning of my June 7 turn. I was tempted to runaway with my British and perhaps should have.

Instead I launched several air attacks on his Southern armour and then attacked it with my French units. The plan was to reduce it enough that it would not be an offensive threat so I could concentrate my forces to the NE of Paris. The air attacks did surprisingly well. But the ground attack was a disaster.

Final positions. All I can hope is that he doesn't surround my BEF or destroy too many units.

JUNE 21, 1940

Before my moves (except for 1 attack on the circled armour). The BEF is OK, but France is toast.

I continue to attack the German armour. My hope was to overrun it, but I knew it was a long shot. I did reduce it by 15 strength at great cost.

JULY 5, 1940

It is one of my British Corps that ends up being overrun. France is ready to sue for peace.

So the BEF runs away.

JULY 19, 1940

France surrenders and Vichy is created. The BEF evacuates France. 1 Mech and 1 corps head to Egypt, the rest back to merry old England. German casualties are very low; only 126 combined land and air.

The British conquer Vichy Syria and setup a picket at Algiers. Malta is blockaded of course. All the standard moves.

AUGUST 2, 1940

Nothing screenshot worthy happens. The Axis mass on the Yugoslavian border.

AUGUST 16,1940

Yugoslavia is invaded and the Axis advance in Egypt.

Not sure what this German Fleet is doing; but of course my search doesn't find it.

AUGUST 30, 1940

7 MS are sunk, but the U-Boats sustain 6 hits.

The Italians sink a sub in the East Med so the RN retaliates.

SEPTEMBER 13, 1940

6 MS and 2 escorts sunk against only 3 U-Boat hits. But a U-Boat that strays too close to the UK is sunk. The Malta Division dies and Yugoslavia is conquered.

In Egypt the Axis continue to threaten. But I am not worried yet.

A partisan appears near Bordeaux that the Axis never bothered to occupy. It even has an available advancement.

A German Fleet threatens my transport near Narvik. But I figure (incorrectly as it turns out) that his odds of successfully searching for me are slim.

SEPTEMBER 27, 1940

The German Fleet does find and sink my transport. This is, of course, a prelude to the invasion of Norway. Unlike me, MM does not screw it up.

I make the only response I can which is to engage with the RN which is also near Narvik. In order to attack my transport he had to be in Fleet Mode so my moves trigger a couple interceptions by the German Fleet. We each lose a DD and I inflict more hits than he does. But the frustrating thing is that my 5 search attempts turn up nada.
