Space Ports

Hi all,
can you kindly tell me which are the advantages to upgrade from a medium space port to a large one?
Also I cannot retrofit from medium to large. Should I scrap the medium one and build the large one after that?

AFAIK there is no difference between a large and medium space port except for the name. You make them different by your design.
You can upgrade by right-clicking on the space port then selecting "Retrofit" from the context menu.

AFAIK you cannot retrofit from one design class (or name) to another.
It is the same with ships... you can only upgrade a frigate to another frigate design; not to a destroyer or escort
I treat the different design names as blank templates that allow the player have various designs for different purposes
So I use Small Space Ports for a bare bones minimal port design for unimportant colonies
Medium Ports for more important and defended colonies
And the Large Port for my main hub or hubs
