In May 2022 Iran announced it would not sign any international agreement that limits its nuclear program and that it would begin developing nuclear weapons. Across the middle east contingency plans for such an event were about to be put into action.
My first scenario of the new year! Way back in 2015 I did a scenario on a hypothetical US / allied strike on Iran nuclear program for a live stream. It wasn't very good, mostly because I was still a new scenario designer at the time and I've always wanted to update it. With all the talk lately about a possible Israeli strike on Iran I decided to do so.
This scenario is designed as a sandbox to see what an Israel, US, or combined strike on Iran might look like. As such, it is up to you the player to determine what type and how many aircraft to use, what weapons to arm them with, and what nuclear sites to target. I've provided a special action to instantly ready all of your aircraft so you don't have to fire speed through aircraft readying.
This is meant to be a limited strike against the Iranian nuclear program, it is not meant as a general air campaign as seen in Desert Storm or in other conflicts since. You will not get points for damaging or destroying units not related to this objective.
This scenario makes heavy use of lua randomization for overflight requests, basing rights, etc. It’s possible to remove the randomization by using the “Remove Randomization” special action. This will give any randomized action a 100% chance of executing.

Version 5.0.0 Beta 8 (April 5, 2025):
• Added Unit Cards to the Unit Info tab on the USA and USA-Israel deployment menu. These cards tell you mission related information about the unit - name, description, type, role, crew (for SAR), sensors, and mission related munitions. Clicking on the card will flip it to the other side. I plan to expand on this feature in the future by adding links to the in-game Command database.
• Added borders to the USA and USA-Israel deployment map.
• Fixed deployment map icon and label scaling on lower resolution monitors (1080p).
• Fixed USA-Israel not being able to deploy aircraft to Ali Al Salem Air Base.
• B-1B and B-1R variants now change with scenario year.
• Changed Iranian OTH radars to be the correct types. Additional OTH radars will be added when using the 2024 scenario year option.
Version 5.0.0 Beta 7 (March 13, 2025):
• Fixed units not being playable as US-Israel when 2024 option is selected.
Version 5.0.0 Beta 6 (March 10, 2025):
• Fixed US-Israel carrier deployment error.
Version 5.0.0 Beta 5 (March 8, 2025):
• Reduced Prince Sultan AB fighter capacity to 60 (was 72).
• Added Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. This base can support CSAR squadrons (one deployed when CSAR is turned on and one player deployed squadron) and twenty four fighters.
Version 5.0.0 Beta 4 (March 8, 2025):
• Reduced Al Dhafra fighter capacity to 60 (was 72). This should prevent the air base from going over max capacity when maxing out large fighters and max very large aircraft.
Version 5.0.0 Beta 3 (March 8, 2025):
• Re-enabled US and US-Israel sides.
• Added US Deployment Menu. This menu allows you to deploy USAF aircraft and USN carriers. This replaces ALL of the US deployment special actions from previous versions. I plan to expand the capabilities of this menu in future updates.
• Updated 2024 scenario option. Now updates some US DBIDs to more current variants and removes KC-10s (withdrawn from service in late 2024). Some munitions not currently in service in 2024 (i.e. the AIM-260) have been disabled from use.
• Fixed Iranian Su-35s not being assigned to a mission.
• Updated styling of Israel political actions menu to be similar to the US deployment menu.
Version 5.0.0 Beta 2 (February 14, 2025):
• Fixed a number of scenario setup issues. Playing as Israel should now be working as intended.
Version 5.0.0 Beta 1 (February 7, 2025):
• Updated scenario to DB510.
• Temporarily disallowed playing as the US and US-Israel.
• Added Israel Scenario Setup menu. This replaces most of the setup special actions from the previous versions. This should vastly simplify the scenario setup process. Setup menu will appear automatically after reviewing the briefing.
• Added Strategic and Political Actions menu. Actions related to the setup of the player side have been split off from the main scenario setup menu. This allows players to review their forces before making decisions. Can be accessed via the "Political and Strategic Actions" special action. Will be unavailable 15 seconds after the scenario starts.
• Added scenario setup option: Use Hypothetical Loadouts. This enables Iranian aircraft to use hypothetical loadouts (i.e. MiG-29s armed with the Fakour-90).
• Added scenario setup option: Use Export Only Aircraft. Enabled by default. When enabled Iran Air Force Upgrade options will use export only aircraft and weapon variants (if applicable). These can have reduced capability compared to non-export models (example PL-15: range 108nm vs PL-15E: range 78nm).
• Added Cyber Operations Center menu. All cyber actions have been combined into a single menu that can be accessed via the "Cyber Operations Center" special action. This menu can be accessed 15 seconds after the scenario starts or after the "Complete Scenario Setup" special action is executed.
• Added additional Upgrade Iranian Air Force options.
• Completely reworked Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) functionality. Selecting units and executing a special action is no longer needed. Maneuver a rescue unit to within rescue parameters of a Downed Aircrew and recovery will happen automatically. There is an element of randomness to the recovery in order to simulate difficulties recovering the downed aircrew. Aircraft rescue parameters are within 1nm, at or below 75 AGL, and at or below 50 knots. Ship and Submarine rescue parameters are within 1nm, above -20 ASL, and at or below 6 knots. Rescue attempts are made every 5 minutes for each rescue capable aircraft.
The number of downed pilots is based on the destroyed units database crew value. Each crew member has separate survival roll, the number of crew represents the maximum number possible survivors per aircraft.
• Automated CSAR Forward Refueling Point Setup. If CSAR is enabled, flying a cargo aircraft at minimum altitude and minimum speed will create a FARP at the aircrafts locations. This check is performed every minute. Cargo aircraft will be located at the new air base with a 30 minute ready time.
• Fixed points not being awarded for damaging/destroying Iranian units. Points will only be awarded for destroying objective facilities or if the damage percentage is equal or greater than 75%.
