Forum upgrade and downtime

Post by Edmon »

As many of you are already aware, we have been working hard these past few months on upgrading the Matrix forums to new and improved forum software.

This software is now ready to be made live and we will be switching to the new software on the 22nd of February (tomorrow) at 16:00 GMT.

The upgrade itself will require approximately 2 hours of downtime, with the forums themselves being unavailable until the upgrade has been completed.

You may notice that your private messages are missing when we switch over - do not worry. We will be importing these to the new forum software once the new forums have been made live. It may take us a little bit of time to transfer them over, so please bare with us while migrate the data.

If you have any questions or comments, please drop them here.

We hope everyone is looking forward to the improvements that come with more modern forums.

Thanks for the heads-up! I will bare with you as long as there are no pictures of anyone...[:D]

Edit: Please note that no upgrade ever survives first contact with the sysadmin. Therefore, we need to delay the upgrade for 24 hours while we sort out a few minor deployment details.

Thanks for your patience.

The new forum is live but we are resolving a performance issue that is making it slow so please be patient on that one.

If you are having other problems with the new forum please follow these instructions.

If you cannot login
• Reset your password at https://samelogin2020.slitherine.com/reset-password
• If this does not help please contact support@matrixgames.com with your username.

If you can login but you cannot see a forum you used to be able see, or you are unable to post to a forum
• Contact support@matrixgames.com with your username and the forum you are trying to access.

If you want the forum to utilize the entire width of your screen
• Login to the forum
• Once logged in click on your username in the top right.
• Select the User Control Panel
• Select the Board Preferences Tab
• On board style change from “matrixgames” to matrixgames-wide”
• Click Submit

Thanks and enjoy the new forum! :)

I thought I was going crazy. Just logged in to download some mods earlier in the day and everything looked the way I remembered it.

The new Forum software only uses about half of my screen width for forum text. Can this be modified? Otherwise it seems we have lots of wasted screen space in back...

If you go into your user control panel you can select a wide display option under user preferences.
