BMP save file format

Hi.

Is there any particular format that I should be saving BMP files in ? If I take an original BMP file and make no modifications and then simply save it in GIMP -it defaults to a 24 bit R8 G8 B8 format- the game won't load it .

From the EDMAP.LOG file ->

2022-05-05 15:23:29 vnmap.exe: [ERROR ID 100] (BitmapDD.cpp, line 33, XCBitmapDD::XCBitmapDD()) in XCBitmapDD::XCBitmapDD(), C:\Program Files (x86)\Matrix Games\Campaign Series Vietnam\graphics\map\2D\TropRainForestGreenTrees8d.bmp is corrupted, else is not a bitmap, else does not exist

Regardless of GIMP version - I still have the 2.6.x and 2.10.x versions around - you need to manually tick the Compatibility Option as "Do not write color space information" ON. Having done that, Advanced Options indeed as 24 bit.

This is a rather annoying feature in GIMP. Iirc having accidentally saved a file without doing that, PaintShop Pro for instance does not understand the file format ether.

That should do it. If it doesn't let me know, you can then send a saved file to me, I will have a look.
