Locating a destroyed unit

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Locating a destroyed unit

Post by WebCommand »

Hi,

Maybe someone knows the answer to this or if it´s even possible. Any help is appreciated.

I´m looking at the TOC/Reported Kills and Claims. I see one of my units with incredible stats. However, it has been destroyed.
I know roughly where it was located but I wanted to know exactly in which hex it was. Since it has been destroyed there
is no indication of it on the map.
Is there a way to find out where it was last seen before it was destroyed?

Thanks.

WebCommand, the only way to find the hex of a dead unit in Red Storm is to review the Tactical Ops Diary at the bottom of the screen and look for when the unit is "wiped out". The hex location is noted as where the final kill(s) occurred.

Thanks. Yes, I´m using the Tactical Ops Diary a lot now to keep track of things. Awesome feature!

By the way, I hadn´t played FC in many years and now I´m back at it to warm up before I purchase the just-released new version of the game. It´s an incredible war game.

Thanks. We find it hard to go back to Red Storm after working on and playing Southern Storm, as it is so much better in every aspect. Enjoy both.

While I bought both games on release, I am only seriously getting into FCRS now, as was saving it for a rainy day. One of the things I love (based on my short time in the original game), is seeing the AI attack my flanks with armor when it is defending - hence an apparent "active" defense. Definitely keeps newbies like me on their toes!

The original game is almost 10 years old, but I can't think of a tactical game (from any era) as good as this one that has held up so well.

In toying with the new game (FC Southern Storm) it appears player orders have gone much deeper and more realistic. Now it's likely I won't dig deep with SOPs, etc., as a new player, but it is great these more complex systems are available as players progress in the game.

I humbly suggest even buyers of the new game also pick up FCRS. It also has lots of mods and maps.

Best wishes to all!

(Oh, and the original game is also available on Steam)
