Kantai Kessen: A Sparrowhawk26 vs J LongLance93

Post by LongLance93 »

Mostly started this to keep myself on track of this massive life sucking undertaking labeled as a PC game.

We will see how active this will be, most likely reporting main events or planning for the future by picking the brains of people smarter than me.

Scenario 1, Dec 7th, latest BETA.

Hawaii Operation 12/07/41

IJN

Combined Fleet

1st Fleet
6th Fleet

1st Mobile Fleet
attacked Pearl Harbor with 5 carriers as it was newly organized just before this operation.

First Carrier Division (Akagi)
Second Carrier Division (Shōkaku, Zuikaku)
Third Carrier Division (Hiryū, Sōryū)

2nd Mobile Fleet is being built around the Fourth Carrier Division (Kaga, Ryūjō)

The attack was iniated by the Special Attack Unit but none could penetrate the harbor defenses.

COMBAT EVENTS FOR 12/07/41

I-16 launches midget submarine Ha-22 to attack Pearl Harbor
SSX Ha-22 hits obstruction and is lost attempting to penetrate harbor at Pearl Harbor
I-18 launches midget submarine Ha-24 to attack Pearl Harbor
SSX Ha-24 founders and is lost attempting to penetrate harbor at Pearl Harbor
I-20 launches midget submarine Ha-14 to attack Pearl Harbor
SSX Ha-14 hits a mine and is destroyed at Pearl Harbor
Midget Sub Ha-18 lost during attempted launch from I-22 at Pearl Harbor
I-24 launches midget submarine Ha-19 to attack Pearl Harbor
SSX Ha-19 hits a mine and is destroyed at Pearl Harbor

I am pretty happy with the PH air strike, this was a compromise of different variations:

4x DB Sq dive bombed the airfields
1x DB Sq dive bombed the port
3x TB Sq level bombed the port
2x TB Sq attacked with torpedoes.

Fighters where purely for escort, I know they could have helped take out more ac but KB needs to keep up a high operational tempo for the moment so did not risk it.

BB Maryland blew up, something else also went down based on the sinking sounds during the turn resolution.

I hope it could be the CA San Francisco, many of the damaged ships got critical hits from the level bombers that exploded inside.

You have Akagi in Carrier Divs 1 & 4 but no Kaga ...

Why aren't all those SubDivs collectively known as SubUrbs? :P

It was decided to divert the South Seas Detachment, (南海支隊, Nankai Shitai), to the Wake Operation as the intel came that enemy carriers where not present in Pearl Harbor.

The new Wake amphibious force will meet the covering 1st Fleet BBs and CAs and 4th Fleet light escorts at Saipan and will time the arrival to Wake with the Kido Butai.
