Axis convoy from Norway in Multiplayer

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Axis convoy from Norway in Multiplayer

Post by GuntherGER »

Hi,

I played some Multiplayer games as Axis and it seems almost impossible to me to secure the Narvik supplies against the british-french navy in the early game. Last time I used my intire air force and navy to secure the short supply line after occuaption of norway. And it still cost me some capital ships and slowed down my advance in france.
Does anyone have some hints to handle this in a proper way or do I have to accept loosing 40 MPPs per round until Norway is occupied? It is a huge malus for the axis.

Thanks in advance for your wise advise.

I think most Axis players just write off the inevitable losses and settle for routing this convoy through the Baltic Sea from Sweden when the decision becomes available. The ships you may lose trying to defend it are difficult to replace. A maritime bomber group helps to keep the Allied navies at bay but it takes time to build one.

Ok, so I assume you agree there is no efficient way to prevent this loss before the convoy route is moved to Kristiansand and sweden.
Thanks again for your help.

Supposedly, the downside for the Allies in this strategy is that their naval units raiding the Norwegian convoy line to Germany have a chance of swinging Norway diplomatically 1-3% towards the Axis every turn. One of the patches increased Norway's starting lean towards the Axis by 25%. It's a long shot, but check to see if the Norwegians are getting annoyed enough with the Allies that maybe you can entice them diplomatically to join the Axis.

I let this happen in my last PBEM and have decided it's not worth it to get an Axis Norway. It felt like the income was less and it is much less protected and more vulnerable. Not worth it IMO.
