pbem++ and tournament. How to contact opponent?

Post by nmoral »

I have started playing my first and only pbem++ game 1 week ago, so new to the mechanics. Thats why i'm wondering, am I doing something wrong or my opponent just didn't answer yet?

I have joined the tournament, sent the first turn and since then I haven't received any further emails telling me it's my turn again. But the tournament doesn't appear in "challenges in process" anymore after I sent my first turn. If i remember well, I still can see my other ongoing challenge, although I can't press continue/fight when it is not my turn.

If everything is fine, how could I contact my opponent? If 1 week passes I'd like to send him a message in case he missed the tournament start or to see if every is going properly

Tournament turns disappear once you have played them. Regular challenges don't seem to. So, if you don't see tournament turns and have not received any emails then you are simply waiting for your opponent. You can look their user name up in the private messages area but they don't need a community forum account to play in the tournament. I'm playing all three and only one of my opponents has a community account.

I'm also new to the pbem++ system, but are you sure that tournament turns disappear after you played them? I played the ones that were in my list, but the files are still there.... I did not get any new turn back from my opponent(s) though... so I wonder whether there is something wrong....

OK, never mind... found out that my turns were stuck because of error in my mail address...

What happens in the tournament when there is a no show, as it looks like six or so games have not started yet?

I know mine has not started yet, file sent I think. but nothing back

I'm in all three at the moment and I'm having similar issues with opponents either not starting games or just not returning turns.

It is frustrating and demoralising when playing in a tournament. I may have this wrong but the scoring seems to be, if you do not complete a tournament game you receive the score as it is when the tournament finishes. I your opponent is a no show I think you you get 1000 point when the tournament ends.

This must be of concern to all who genuinely want to commit to playing in the tournament.

Even if you are right at the top of the leader board you can't assume you have won the tournament. You might just have been lucky in the draw and all your opponents played.

Is the a post that explains the scoring system or is it a defacto element of the PBEM tournament scoring system?
