Post by LiamR »

Hello Admirals, today we have a Rule the Waves 3 update for you. Version 1.00.52 brings tweaks and fixes to the game, including changes to A.I. fleet generation for the 1935 start date. The full changelog can be viewed below. The update is automatically downloaded via Steam, or available for manual download for Matrix store users.

Happy hunting everyone.

1.00.52 - July 15th, 2024

Campaign Generation
  • France might now have one or two CV in their legacy fleet in a 1935 start.
  • Japan, USA and Britain might now have CVL in their legacy fleet in a 1935 start.
  • Fixed a data error that could cause a communist China to have the wrong flag in a 1920 start.
  • Fixed a bug with legacy ships occasionally having a missile maintenance cost even though missiles were not invented.

Strategic Layer
  • Made unrest more likely to come down when naval budget is low.
  • Fixed a bug where AI nations said they cancelled an alliance but then didn't.
  • Made sure the AI is not building airbases or carriers ahead of their time in games with low research speed.

Battle Resolution
  • Some additional adjustments to splinter and HE penetration.
  • Some tweaks to make AI ships less likely to get hung up on land.

Ship Design
  • Fixed a bug with the number of secondary guns determining the ammo loadout for the tertiary guns.

Officers
  • Commanders will no longer risk dying in fleet exercises.

Game Preferences
  • Fixed some tech inconsistencies when playing with low research speed.

Hey folks,

We're experiencing issues with TrueUpdate for updating the game. We're currently investigating.

In the meantime, any non-Steam users of RTW3 can still download the update from the link provided in this OP or from the File Downloads in the My Page area of the Matrix Website.

We will update this post once TrueUpdate is fixed.

Can I take this opportunity again to beseech you to put a scroll function on Prestige/Battles screen on the History tab and not flatline everything after 70 prestige?

I very badly need to be able to track the ups and downs during the mid/late game. And even the battles get pushed off the screen.

This is an improvement that we have on our list for future update considerations.

Hip, Hip HURRAH! and other comments. Insert many statements of appreciation and gratitude.

I'd do the usual and load on some other (fine, simple) suggestions, but this one is so big, I will bask in it, undiluted.

Yes, it is indeed possible to break 200 (Admiral's Mode, AI+. no cheating, the rest defaults) with any country. Interestingly, China is an easier nut to crack than Russia. But even for the brutal Rus there IS a clear pathway to 200 Prestige that is more than a mere reactive struggle. Spain is a dodging act combined with strategic refusal of flank, very tough and close. But Russia is just plain brutal.

I'd even say all this -- might -- be easier than in Captain's Mode, normal AI: That full Victory Point bit means you can cop a prestige from a coastal or land raid plus a couple of auxiliaries and walk away with a (well earned) prestige, should you care to avoid the main defenders. Rinse/repeat for Raider kills. And the AI+ means your foes will be tougher, yes, yet they will not be so fast to run out of ships for you to get famous from killing.
