I'm willing to get a game going again. With all the improvements that Bill has made to the game if we get 4 players the PBEM should work ok using the AI function for the other countries.

That would be great. I just posted v1.26.04 Beta Hotfix #2 and commented that I need to wrap up this version in the next few weeks. That's not enough time to get too far into a PBEM game. But, more important would be to hear that players can still start up a game and get through a turn. It was working OK before so I don't expect any surprises, but if there are then it would be nice to know and have a chance to fix something before release.

FYI, I am still working through my playtest with Hotfix #2. I should be able to post Hotfix #3 later this week with more AI adjustments and a few minor bug fixes. You should be able to start a game and then upgrade, or perhaps just wait a few more days. Just letting you know.

Attached is a draft hotfix to troubleshoot the issue with diplomacy files. All of your players should install this. It only makes changes for pbem file processing.

Alright, I think I have found and fixed the PBEM diplomacy issues. I successfully ran a PBEM playtest as Great Britain host, France client, and Spain client. I ran the game through January, February, and March without noting any diplomacy or economic phase issues. An excerpt of the game log is provided below:

For PBEM games, the game log now documents diplomacy files being loaded. The host should ensure that the last human player correctly adds all diplomacy files to his \commin folder so they are properly loaded.

Attached is a second draft hotfix with the following updates:

Empires in Arms the Napoleonic Wars - 1.26.04 Hotfix (12/5/2024)
- PBEM Admin button not always working correctly – resolved.
- PBEM simultaneous diplomacy not always working correctly for some human client players – resolved.

All of your players should install this EXE file over the current file. If all goes well during your PBEM game, I'll make this official. Thank you all for your patience!

Updated hotfix. Fixes (again) the Admin button issue. Also adds warning message for last PBEM player to verify all simultaneous diplomacy files are loaded prior to ending turn. Let's see if this resolves everything.

Alright, one more time. Latest hotfix now correctly checks for last human player during diplomacy and displays the warning message. My playtest verified that it does work for Great Britain now as last human player. It is important for the last player to ensure all diplomacy files are in his \commin folder. When - for Great Britain - after loading France land turns and you get the status message for Great Britain diplomacy phase, then load pbem turns and verify the game log shows all other diplomacy files are loaded. Except for Great Britain which you will play and for Spain which will be generate when Great Britain ends his turn. The warning message will appear when Great Britain clicks to end his turn.

My computer has just updated as if by conicidence i can't open the file, just tells me that it failed to open and even that the file is empty? Any ideas?

Well, the file is not empty. I'd say reboot, re-download the file, and try again? Maybe you need to exempt the file from your virus scan or something. If your download isn't working, shoot me an email and I can send you the file.

OK, one more time to fix the Admin button. This is to address a glitch where the host player type got changed somehow to client. The logic checks for host game type OR player type to display the admin button. I had checks to exclude client game type AND player type, but these are removed for now. I suspect all of these installations of hotfixes during your pbem game may be a factor. At worse, a client player may gain access to the admin button but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
